Outdoor patio...... cool air?

Featured Replies

Has anyone nailed down the best way to provide some outdoor cool air?

Some of the open air bars in BKK seem to be investing in lots of mobile, evaporative units....Hatari?

We have a small patio and I was wondering if a wall mounted, internal units would be any good (when mounted outside)?

Do people just go for these mist type cooling devices? Are they healthy?

It's just water.

When outdoors we just use normal pedestal fans - moving air is better than nothing! - and it reduces mosquito worry as well.

A swamp cooler is perfect for outside, a bit ugly but they do work.  They don't work inside unless you leave the windows wide open.

We surrounded our patio with hanging plants. Went around and watered them. A nice big fan plugged in and enjoyed the breeze and "slightly" cooler air. Unlike most, i grew up in the American Southwest, so I actually enjoy the humid tropics😅

In the summer we are hitting 41/42 and the fans actually start to heat rather than cool??

Yorkshiremen are like Scotsmen who have had the generosity squeezed out of them.

Yes, they take water and gel ice packs if you have them to hand.

Very tempted.

We have a 1000 sq ft of covered outdoor living space which we hardly use. Even though it is open on three sides it is like being inside an oven by 11am.

We bought a huge fan for the veranda/patio that we built.  Hardly ever sit outside now, so never use it.  Its too hot most of the time and too many flying things trying to eat you.  I would rather sit in aircon to read my book, listen to music or just chill out.

Agree....and i just feel terrible doing that. I feel I should be outside.

Best thing I bought recently were glasses with "side covers",  we get lots of eye gnats.....they made a huge difference.

I was looking at these systems during my time in Micronesia but never got around to obtaining one. However, I know for a fact that the high-pressure systems work effectively.

You may wish considering...

Low pressure systems

High pressure systems

Evaluate for yourself

You may require a good import agent.

imo, steer away from swamp coolers, it's nothing but a gimmick but ymmv.

Mmmm....this might be the way to go.....as the wife is quite keen.

If I do anything different it will be immediately classed as useless and a waste of money...555

I understand, but lets face it, we should live life in the most comfortable way that makes us comfortable and happy, regardless of conventional thinking.  We are expected to sit outside in the tropical evening, listening to the jungle sounds , drinking Singapore Slings. Well getting bitten to death is not my idea of fun and I no longer drink alcohol, so not much evening outside for me .
