Different 100 bahts note

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My bank gave me a bundle of 100 new 100 bahts notes and in the bundle I found a note with the usual designs, except that it is yellow-gold, not the usual colors

I  showed it to Thai people  around me and no one has ever seen a note like that

was there a commemoration?

Thai treasury department print and mint new design banknotes and coins like on a daily basis, (mainly commemorative coins)

myself as a collector of Thai coins and banknotes has already gave up on following what are the new coins/banknotes that are

going to be minted today...

BoT website does not mention qnty produced but I beleive they typically produce  a run of 10million notes.

They did not dissolve, likely they went into her pocket for safe keeping.

You are probably right there Ralf.

It has happened before, but with the older notes, I thought they just disintegrated. These new notes are quite pretty, and are not paper. A plastic pollysomething, so they didn't disintegrate.

I think she is becoming a collector of different items.

Have to be more careful in the future.

Deducing from the number on the side, compared to the one in the website from BoT, this is not a limited print.

Many Thais are collecting old notes with HM the king Rama 9 on them.

He was well loved.

Anything less than a 500 baht note is as rare as hen's teeth now.

Rubbish, only worth anything if uncirculated anyway

They were commemorative notes issued a few years ago. They actually issued some of them at atms. I've got a whole bunch of them in sequential numbers and mint condition. I'll hold on to them.

This is the correct answer.

I'll hold on to mine,  too.

They issued pretty much the same notes in a very big format,  too. Like A5. I have been instructed by gf to look out for some. Any ideas where to get them?

You do not understand do you?

When did you last see a note, less than 500 baht in value, with HM King Rama 9 on it?

As I said, they are as rare as hen's teeth here and when I travel.

Thais are not doing it to make money.

Not everything in life is about money.

Thais are doing it in his memory.

The Thais that I know who are collecting them would never sell or use them unless there was an emergency.

Stay happy in your ignorance about people's emotions.

I had some of the older 20 baht notes that got wet, so I tried ironing one - make a nice, crisp, dry note. Well, there is a pouch that expands like a little balloon when you do that, rendering it useless.

I can't stand those new 20 baht notes. Nasty plastic pieces of garbage. Just something wrong with them.

I don't think The Thai language has a plural form on nouns.

Pity more people didn't realise this.
