After years of happily using the Agoda app to book hotels within Thailand I am shocked at just how bad the updated app is.

Results bear little relation to perameters set in my filter and displayed prices are way below that on the final bill. Navigating the results is much worse than before and what is all this 'cashback' nonsense? Now I have to claim my 'reward' after receiving an email about 9 weeks after completing my booking....presuming I notice their email amongst all the junk.

Wondering what are other people's go-to Hotel apps besides Agoda.

Booking.com is part of the same group of companies.  It seems to work well.  And, unlike Agoda, you can use Apple Pay, for anyone who likes to pay that way.  I’ve only used it a few times, but I’ve never had a problem.  Just last night I used it to cancel one reservation and book another, and by this morning, my credit card account was already credited for the refund.  

I find both Agoda and booking.com good for searching for hotels and getting an idea of price. 

 

Then I run a google search for the hotel I like, put in dates and get a range of other sites that may (or may not) offer more competitive pricing or have better inclusions (such as free cancellation, included breakfast, early check-in / late check-out etc).

 

Some say contacting the property directly may yield a better deal.
