The official uniforms for Thai athletes to be worn at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony were revealed yesterday on ‘Stadium TH’s’ Facebook page. The unveiling attracted a variety of responses from social media users.

The uniform, modeled by Sapsiree Taerattanachai, a Thai national badminton player, is inspired by the Phraratchathan long-sleeved suit. This particular suit is often worn by Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, cabinet ministers, and other high-ranking government officials. The uniform is crafted from light blue Thai silk and features a mandarin collar.

One unnamed Facebook user questioned whether the Olympic uniform resembled the attire worn by a local governor at a national sports event. Another comment referred to the Paris Tambon Administrative Organisation (TAO), possibly suggesting the attire's formal nature.

One user commended the use of Thai fabrics, though recommended a more modern design, voicing that the uniform resemble those worn to a TAO gathering. The reactions weren't all positive. Pansak Vinyaratn, a former advisor to numerous former prime ministers, likened the outfit to a "waiter's uniform in a restaurant of a two-star hotel."

Prominent architect Duangrit Bunnag relayed his friends' disappointment with the design. He advised Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin to enlist designers to rework the uniform, and assured that it's not too late to do so.

Unnamed posts at that .

I would suggest that for the opening ceremony parade, the women all wear Tuk Tuk costumes (as per the Miss Universe Contest a few years back photo below).

The men could wear motorcycle suits.  When the march out, and around the stadium, the TTs and m/c should weave in and around each other, just like they do in BBK traffic.

Now that would be a real display of Thai culture 😊

Lovely! I'm a big fan of Sapsiree. She is supremely fit, has worked so hard on her game and has built an excellent relationship with her badminton partner. They are certainly in the medal hunt at the Olympics.

She is intense when she is playing, but afterwards shows a charming and smiley personality.

All of the Thai badminton players will be trying 100% in the Olympics. They will be very well trained and prepared. BUT the competition, particularly from China and Japan, is intense.

Good luck to them all. Having watched Thai badminton for 15 years I know that they will do Thailand proud.

Love to you, Sapsiree! Chok dee!

This uniform reeks of some Politicians wife getting the job, to help promote her struggling fabric shop in Pratunam.

It's embarrassingly bad.

Which channels will have overall coverage of the sports events in Paris?  I use True Visions and hope that the SPOTV channels will have overall coverage.

Is the model a Tom or male or androgynis or simply AI.

Strange question, it's obviously a woman and who cares if she is a tom or not?

Thai bashers.

Thais bashing Thais? Should probably read again.
And yes it is awful. Thais can have so much elegance in design, but this staid thing looks like a workman’s outfit and smacks of dinosaur governmental input.

On my new feed this morming: Thailand changes Olympic uniform.

After a couple days defending it, they caved fast.

Only if the vehicles occasionally (or frequently) crash into each other, the audience, or other stationary object within 500m of the path.
