Man Rescued After Being Trapped in Elevator for Two Hours Due to Power Outage During Storm
As stated above, I understood there always was a special key slot for fire and emergency crews to manually unlock the doors. I could be wrong but using the jaws of life to open the doors may have done some damage to the door operating mechanism that will need possibly expensive repairs. I had an elevator experience recently that I would not want to repeat. I lived in a Jomtien condo on the 28th floor. At 9:00 one morning the power to all four elevators in the building was turned off for routine maintenance. I found this out about 9:30 as I had to leave for appointments with a lawyer and a court appearance later. On the way out, office staff told me power would be back on around 2:00 in the afternoon. As I had no choice, I had had to walk down 28 floors. I am handicapped and walk with a cane. I side stepped all the way taking about 45 minutes. What if there had been others with a medical emergency at that time? I don't live in that condo anymore. -

I heartily agree with the good doctor. In my experience, tobacco junkies are among the most selfish and inconsiderate people. In fact, when I drove a cab in San Francisco, they would often light up in my taxi and then complain when I rolled my driver's window down as they puffed away. I was truly grateful when legislation was passed that made it illegal to smoke in taxis without the driver's permission. -

That's the point. He did not say anything about it. He just said that it was not really Hitler's fault and pushed the general idea that the Nazis were unprepared. They were quite prepared to exterminate Jews in the countries they invaded. Usually, when public figures are 'misunderstood' they make a statement to correct this misunderstanding. -

More B.S. about there not being enough food. Here's a tidbit from the Bundesarchiv which gives the lie to that. Apparently there was enough food when those Russian P.O,W.s were needed for slave labor: "Only when the early onset of winter 1941 caused a halt in the advance of Armed Forces, which meant that the war in the East would drag out for some time, and when parts of the German economy was threatening to stagnate because of the labour shortage growing rapidly again, the POWs were intended to be deployed in the Reich and were cockered up by feeding them increased food rations, as they said in the administrative language.
