Trump and Harris in Debate Showdown Dispute

In the lead-up to the presidential election, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are locked in a heated disagreement over the arrangements for their first head-to-head debate. Each candidate prefers a different broadcaster and date, intensifying the tension between their campaigns. The Harris campaign is pushing for a debate on ABC News on September 10, a slot originally scheduled for a debate between President Joe Biden and Trump. However, Trump contends that the ABC debate has been "terminated" following Biden's withdrawal from the race and is advocating for a debate on Fox News on September 4.

 

With the presidential election scheduled for November 5, this debate has become a focal point for both campaigns. The disagreement arose after President Biden exited the race on July 21, making Harris the favorite to secure the Democratic nomination. Since then, Trump has been non-committal about whether he will participate in the previously scheduled ABC News debate. In response, US television networks have been negotiating with both campaigns to arrange new dates.

 

On Friday night, Trump announced on his social network, Truth Social, that he had accepted Fox News' proposal for a debate on September 4, set to take place in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state. Trump stated that the moderators would be Fox News' Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and that the debate rules would be similar to those used in his debate with Biden. He added that if Harris is unwilling or unable to debate on that date, he has agreed with Fox to hold a major Town Hall event on the same evening. Trump explained that the prior agreement has been terminated because Biden is no longer participating and due to a conflict of interest stemming from his defamation case against the broadcaster.

 

The Harris campaign responded by accusing Trump of "running scared" and attempting to back out of the agreed debate. They criticized him for turning to Fox News, a conservative network, to "bail him out." Michael Tyler, Harris Campaign communications director, urged Trump to stop playing games and honor his commitment to the September 10 debate. Harris echoed this sentiment on social media, pointing out the inconsistency in Trump's stance, noting how "any time, any place" had shifted to "one specific time, one specific safe space." She affirmed her intention to be present on September 10, as initially agreed. Harris' team stated that they are open to discussing additional debates, but only after the agreed one takes place.

 

The potential debate is eagerly anticipated as it offers a crucial opportunity to see how the two contenders compare. Harris secured enough pledges to become the Democratic nominee on Friday. During a campaign rally in Atlanta on Wednesday, she directly challenged Trump to a debate, asserting, "if you got something to say, say it to my face."

 

This debate controversy unfolds against the backdrop of a recent Homeland Security Department report that highlights significant errors made by the US Secret Service during the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. The report revealed that Harris, then vice president-elect, came within 20 feet of a "viable" pipe bomb placed outside the Democratic National Committee's headquarters. Similar bombs were found at the Republican National Committee headquarters, but the individuals responsible for planting them remain unidentified.

Trump's frivolous defamation case with ABC Stephanopoulos for repeating a fact previously stated by a Judge in the Carroll case, was in play before the Biden debate, yet it is problematic now, hmm.

'Any time, any place' Trump is running scared to mommy Murdoch's Fox News, as he knows Kamala will make him accountable for his actions just like 80-year-old Carroll did for the first time in his life

If he failed with his 80-year-old rape victim, how will he go with a younger savvy ex-prosecutor?

Taking the fifth 400 times or refusing to take the stand in a televised debate, will not go down well with the voting electorate.

Trump is very scared of Harris, he's very afraid of her dissecting him like a coroner in a live debate. However I think Harris is making a mistake by not agreeing to debate on Fox. I think it's healthy for her to walk into a hostile environment and perform well, and she should allow herself to be in those environments more frequently. 

 

Trump showed some guts by being interviewed during that black conference recently, he failed miserably but at least he tried.

I don't think Trump is afraid to debate anybody..including a laughing hyena who has failed at the border issues and about being up front about bidens mental health..come on, really can you see this Indian Negro feline doing anything at all as a leader but being another Obama puppet ...& I think Trump did OK at a black hostile conference gaining plenty of laughter from the crowd..

In a rational world there would be 2 debates: One at a time and place proposed by Trump, and one at a time and place proposed by Harris.

 

But I was often accused of being too rational during my career as a Federal public servant in Oz.

Harris IQ is likely around 140. Trump IQ is likely around 85-95. Trump is increasingly unhinged and incoherent. Harris is scaring this man, and he is losing the plot. 

 

But, Harris needs to accept a hostile venue for the debate, to show she can beat him in any environment. Not doing so is foolish and makes her look weak, and scared.

 

From the NY Post, a Murdoch owner paper, and a conservative one. It would appear they are losing faith in Don and JD.

All signs point to a tight race in November, and the GOP ticket is already behind with women: In five battleground states, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Harris leads by 9 points or more with the ladies.

 

Closing that gap may be an uphill battle. Even if Trump were ahead, it would be foolish to ignore the power of women voters: About 7.4 million more women than men were registered to vote in 2022, according to the Center for American Women in Politics, and more women than men have voted in every presidential election since 1964. 

 

Besides, the chance to vote for a woman who feels like a relative newcomer will almost certainly attract female voters who sat out other elections (or even some of those who pulled the lever for Trump in 2016 because they couldn’t stomach the alternative). Sure, there are plenty of women who want what Trump and Vance are selling: school choice, parental rights, a better economy, safer neighborhoods and a more secure border.

 

But this is a different political landscape than 2016, and both Trump and Vance need to keep on the straight and narrow to avoid alienating female voters who might otherwise agree with them on policy.

 

Maybe Trump should start by quitting hurling derogatory nicknames and ad hominem insults at his foes. He can ding Kamala on policy without making crass comments or veering into petty pot shots about her looks or gender that might make women balk.

He and his running mate must certainly avoid missteps like the one Vance made in 2021, when he blasted “childless cat ladies” who run the country but are “miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made.” He also foolishly suggested penalizing women without kids with higher taxes. For real?

 

Vance’s comments resurfaced recently and spread like wildfire on social media, drawing backlash from even conservative women. Trump and Vance need to reassure women that they take them seriously as a voting bloc, and they have no interest in pushing national policy that controls women’s decisions on family matters. The GOP ticket knows women will play a major role in deciding this election — perhaps they should start acting like it.

Sifting through the blatant racism to observe what your point might have been...why then is Donald shifting the goalposts and referring to a "conflict of interest" that existed when he had already agreed to debate Biden on ABC? That's fear right there. And when you look at the roots of racism, fear is one of the major factors. Why is it you fear others who don't look like you Johno57? What did they do to hurt you? Is it that you fear losing the edge that being White gave you? Why not just appreciate how you got lucky so were able to get by despite your mediocrity?

Which is why Trump should refuse to do the debate. IMO he will lose whatever he does. Either he is on form and is accused of insulting women, or his side will say he was too easy on her. He has more to lose by participating than to opt out. I doubt the debate would change anyone's mind about whom to vote for, short of her face mask ( think Mission Impossible ) falling off and revealing she is just Obama in drag.

 

IMO Trump should man up and refuse outright to play her game. Let her moan and Dems say nasty things- we've heard it all before.

Listened to a comment by James Carville. He sujested Harris agree to the Fox debate but on September September 18, the date Trump is to appear for his sentencing in the citizen Trial Jury guilty verdict as a felon.

I think it is very possible he will refuse to do the debate or he will find excuses not to do the debate, none of which have anything to do with the reasons you're suggesting, and all of which have to do with extreme cowardice and pathological fear of Harris, utter public humiliation, and facing a strong women. We know he cannot handle strong women.
