Hint about retiring in Thailand

Most of the guys who hate T daily don't live in Bangkok. That is a clue. There isn't much to do in Thailand outside Bangkok.

  • What rubbish. Chiang Rai is the jumping off point for Mae Sai, Phu Chi Fa, Doi Angkarn, Fang, Doi Mae Salong, Chiang Saen, the White Temple, Baan Dum, Wat Sang Kaew Phothiyan, Doi Chang.......

All farangs who live here decided to live here. It's up to them if they want to live in Thailand and where they want to live.

If someone decides to live up country because that is the home village from Nit or Noi, then that is their decision.

Why do people live anywhere where they don't want to live?

I like the cycling and hiking outside Chiang Mai. If only it would stop raining, nearly 2 weeks trapped inside.

Because Nit wants to live there?

Perhaps they wanted to live there because they had unrealistic expectations and reality eventually hit them in the face, at which time, rather than blame themselves for not having prepared properly , they blame Thais for being Thais.

Over the years that I have been here,I see it in this forum with equal regularity.

Do I really have to explain it to you?

Any guy, old, young, rich, poor, can tell her: I live in Bangkok. If you like, live with me. If not, then don't.

Problem solved.

A wide range of restaurants, 4 large hospitals, none of Bangkok's traffic congestion. Lower cost of living.

Please don't come, you'd only spoil it for the rest of us.

That certainly is not my observation and unless you're a rebranded member, I've been on this forum for more years than you have months! Most of those years have been spent living in the rural north east and I'm quite contented here.

Most of the moaning and groaning that I have observed over the years emanate from what I call the farang ghettos, of Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Chiang Mai. There's a clue there too!

You can keep Bangkok, hot, humid, traffic congestion, and expensive.

Love it up here in Phitsanulok, out in the sticks miles from anywhere with no worries at all.

I hate Bangkok.... I would not live in Thailand if that was the only option.

Two days in Bangkok and I have had enough. The heat by the beach or somewhere a bit peaceful is bearable or nice - in Bangkok with the pollution and traffic is no fun. Unless you live indoors all the time but who wants that.

Love and hate Bangkok. Everything is wrong with this city!

I think the solution is some nice townhouse over the channel at Kamphen Phet near the temple or Nontaburi.

But we are still at Ratchada, like a curse.

Same here. Quiet stressfree life, but all facilities and good internet.

You did, actually.  It's identical to the one on the web -- clouds are the clue.  Why pretend, and then lie about it?

Yes, this one is also fake.

I drive past them. Haven't you ever done that?

Agreed.

I am 50, moved to Thailand at 39.

11 years in Bangkok and not going anywhere else.

Everything is better in Bangkok, especially women.

Beautiful, educated, no debt and no genital herpes. All the women I met on Tinder would pick me up with their car.

I'll leave building a house in Isaan to losers.

I can always find something to do, whether simply O&A exploring, or simply driving around taking in the landscape.

To simply chilling at a coffee shop with a view, or not, to the view off our veranda, watching the birds.
