Hint about retiring in Thailand

Featured Replies

I have the best of both worlds.  I mainly live in Chiang Rai where I find plenty of things to do to keep me busy.  It is also quite relaxing to sit around the pool with a cold brew.  We also have a condo in Bangkok.  I go there when I get bored in Chiang Rai.  I usually stay there about 10 days before the crowds and the traffic begin to annoy me.

  • What rubbish. Chiang Rai is the jumping off point for Mae Sai, Phu Chi Fa, Doi Angkarn, Fang, Doi Mae Salong, Chiang Saen, the White Temple, Baan Dum, Wat Sang Kaew Phothiyan, Doi Chang.......

  • You still watching youtubes to pretend on the forum you're a travelled person?

Like getting drunk. Or stoned.

Following the Thai male village tradition, except Farang not Thai, Farang rak Thai.

Drink seems to be a common pastime of those who have low intellect.

Contrary to popular belief, alcohol doesn't actually kill brain cells.

While it's true that excessive alcohol consumption can harm the brain, the damage is more about disrupting brain function and preventing the growth of new brain cells (neurogenesis) rather than outright killing them.
Short-term effects: Impaired judgment, slowed reflexes, difficulty concentrating.

Long-term effects: Memory problems, learning difficulties, increased risk of dementia.

Same same but different?

Chiang Mai's Garden is great! Good foreplay, I'll take my date to see it.

Thank you!

Adults lose around 50 000 neurons a day. When reaching 70 years of age, around 10% of the brain has been lost. There are factors that can delay this or accelerate it.

So good luck

There isn't much to do in Thailand outside Bangkok

That is complete rubbish. Bangkok would be boring after a couple days. There is lots to do up country, not to mention clean air when the burning season isn't around. Fantastic scenery, friendlier people. A calmer way of life compared to the hustle of BKK.

The only real reason for staying in BKK would be if you are single and a bargirl chaser!

I'm not worried, I seem to have plenty to spare.

As both my parents died at age 83 with all their marbles, IMO genetics are on my side.

Work out how long you have left so you can spend it

Stupid and ignorant people often do not know how odd they are either. Continue to think they are brilliant and great and also think they make a great difference. Also lives in denial about themselves, when they trying to tell everyone else's life is boring and their homes are boring. Why bother to spe d so much energy about others life's and lifestyles?

Quite remarkable characters

Depends on which data source is used, genius.

Pretending to be positive while issuing a stream of put-downs, you really are full of it.

Some people grow up, and take life seriously, and do not need to waste time on humor nobody else enjoy or understand.

You win the  award most times though Bubble bum especially with your horrendous sick leave record during your working years

And you failed to provide medical certificates for most of those days

I retired in 2018 but my Thai wife and I started buying property here in Thailand many years before that since we knew we move here when I retired.  Over the years we acquired a number of properties in Chiang Rai which we rent out.  I’m 68 now and in good health.  We are starting to sell some of our properties so that we can enjoy the proceeds.  With a little luck and a lot of long term planning we are able to have a very nice life here.

It’s nice when plans work out.  We bought the Bangkok condo around 2004.  Built the house in Chiang Rai in 2013.  My wife moved from the US to Thailand in 2014. I continued to work until I retired in 2018.
