The One Fatal Issue That Both Parties Consistently Refuse to Address
But that does not explain why countries that don't take it will fall behind the others that do. It's been around for what, fifteen years? What countries are falling behind because of it. Why do you assume it has to keep going up? -

Don’t kill the golden goose! Tax reforms may drive away expats
Here, again, you say "before the WP holder leaves the country" ........ why? I can guarantee you that there is some mechanism in place to ensure the TRD receives the taxes that are due, before the expat taxpayer leaves the country and goes home, absolutely guarantee. In the US that is a TCC, in Hong Kong it is an obligation on the employer to notify the Revenue that the employee has been paid untaxed bonus and within an hour of the money having been deposited into the employee's bank account, the bank has handed over 20% to the Revenue in anticipation the employee will file a return and settle matters. -

Any advantages to retirement over marriage visa?
Yes. Some refer to it as Statutory Declaration (AU) Some Affidavit etc. The point is that some embassies no longer provide this "letter" The alternative is to obtain a COR (certificate of residence) from your immigration office. The catch 22 is that in Bangkok you need to have done a 90 day report to obtain COR. Not possible on a tourist visa or visa exempt. -

The Hino truck must have been travelling at quite some speed in order to be able to overturn the 12 wheeler and drive it off the road. -

Thailand's 5-20 Year Visa Now a Bit Cheaper
Who, other than you and Yourself, give a rat's arse about your social security? The point is that tens of thousand foreigners will pay IT, at the same rate as Thais, and will get zero, zilch, nada in return. It makes it a duty to leave, at least 185 days a year. But that's what the Chinese masters want anyway. -

Is it worth having one short sighted eye corrected?
Yes, it's quite amazing how that works. After my retinal detachment surgery, my depth-of-field perception was off, especially when doing something simple such as taking the change being handed over by a cashier. I was always 'undershooting' where their hand was. However, after maybe a couple of weeks, the bits of the brain that handles the optics made the 'adjustments' and it was back to normal. -

Thailand's 5-20 Year Visa Now a Bit Cheaper
They are probably looking at the foreigners from the US - you know the really smart ones, the MAGA folks believing everything Trump says so yeah those foreigners are stupid in the minds of the Thai. -

Gumball 3000 Supercar Rally to be Hosted in Thailand Next Week
It would be interesting to see how many of them finish, and how many drop out for overheating, mechanical issues, etc. I'm not a fan of Top Gear, but I do find it amusing when they drive a $zillion supercar and it craps out in the middle of the show. Sadly, I'm going to be 2 days late to catch the Thailand leg. It would be fun to watch. -

Last September's Nine-Day Tsunami That Shook the Earth
Would have been fascinating to actually see it happening. (From helicopter likely the only way, I guess. Given that it went on for 9 days, it should have been possible.) -
