I agree CM and kT's beaches as well as being crap are almost too difficult to find.

Would that eventually be more useful than a new submarine ...?

  • "Pristine" what a friggin joke.  Anyone that that thinks any mainland beach is pristine has been living in. chit-hole under a rock all their life.

  • Good luck with that.

normally it's Koh Samet and the coast along there that gets it - this will be spilled by a vessel or driven by wind and tide. Don't think most of Pattaya realises how close they are to major industry and its concomitant dangers.

, but this was a massive oil spill

And the worst of it is likely unseen as the oil will also sink. We haven't come far if we cannot prevent all such spills.

When was the last time you were at Bang Saray beach?  Have you ever been?

Was there two weeks ago and water and beach are clean and beautiful. Why do you post  negative nonsense ?

It's not a beach that makes it a beach, it's the whole surrounding area. Bang Saray has been a victim of it's own success. 15 years ago was ideal but now especially due to sea saran company, it's nothing more that a satellite of Pattaya. No infrastructure, a restaurant or bar for every other person, horrendous traffic, condo after condo being built and not even a bank. Sorry, it's been ruined by expats and their issan Thai wives, and not to mention the back stabbing and thieving that goes on with real estate. Far cleaner and friendlier places in Thailand to spend money 👍

I was on an oil tanker in Sattahip in 1971.

Quite beautiful, then.

Truly pristine, at the time.

I wish I could return to those days, over 50 years ago.

We were extremely careful about discharging oil over the side, at that time.

50 years is a long time.

The environment is now not nearly the same.
