NHS Faces Critical Crossroads: Reform or Die, Warns Prime Minister
“He [PM Starmer] will urge for "major surgery, not sticking plaster solutions"” I expect you might get some answers to your questions once the policies in response to this one day old report have been established and published. The Government have already made statements on policy objectives to curb the adverting of ‘junk foods’, the sale of ‘energy drinks’ and to align laws governing the sale of nicotine vapes with those of tobacco. These two being significant causes of ill health across the nation. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/sep/12/keir-starmer-labour-radical-public-health-drive-junk-food-ads-energy-drinks-nhs -

Thai Consumers Shift to Essential Goods Amid Economic Concerns
The same thing is happening in the US and in Europe as many people are finding it very hard to cope with the skyrocketing cost of living, and minimal increases in wages. Consumer confidence is incredibly low right now regardless of what the government says. Could be the upcoming election, two wars raging, or? I have a lot of friends that are in retail and everyone says the same thing, most people are not buying things that are not real necessities at the moment. -

Scammers Impersonate Nonthaburi Police, Alarm Residents
Nonthaburi, 5 October 2023 — A troubling wave of scam calls has swept through Nonthaburi, as individuals posing as police officers target residents. Over the past day, the Nonthaburi City Police Station has been inundated with calls from citizens confused and concerned about requests to verify their bank accounts. The scammers, introducing themselves as Lieutenant Anchalee and Lieutenant Colonel Rattasart, have alleged that the residents were involved in money laundering. They then asked the victims to send their ID cards and follow online instructions for verification, creating a panic among the local population. Akrapong Detkul, a diligent radio officer on duty, managed over 30 such calls from anxious citizens. Speaking candidly, he confirmed, “People have been calling all day, checking if these officers are real. It’s clear that a call centre scam is behind this.” Notably, neither of the names used by the scammers belongs to real officers at the station. This alarming scam was not limited to Nonthaburi. Residents from provinces like Lamphun and Chon Buri also suffered, with reports emerging of significant financial losses. A Lamphun resident was deceived out of 40,000 baht (around £970), and another individual in Chon Buri was tricked into transferring 1,999 baht (about £50). One of the more severe cases involved a woman from Sakon Nakhon who lost 90,000 baht (approximately £2,190). In total, the Nonthaburi City Police Station recorded 34 related fraud cases in just one day. Thankfully, a few alert citizens managed to spot the scam before falling victim. Adding to the troubling trend, a medical technician in Buriram also fell prey to a similar scam, losing over 20,000 baht (£485). The victim, Yutthana, was misled by someone pretending to be an electricity authority officer. Sharing his ordeal, he urged the government to bolster security systems and protect residents from such predatory scams. As Nonthaburi grapples with this spate of fraud, authorities are urging residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately. The Urgent Need for EU Expansion: A Strategic Imperative for Survival
I have no influence when it comes to UK trade policy. However, I was assured by Boris Johnson and his Brexit buddies that the world (outside of the EU) would be bending over backwards to sign trade deals and commit to deeper, lasting relationships with the UK. Unfortunately, to quote Diana Ross, "I'm still waiting,". -

Any advantages to retirement over marriage visa?
Regardless of some posts .... You will need to use funds in bank method for your first extension be that based on marriage or retirement. If you wish to use income method for second extension then you need to start monthly transfers as soon as you have a Thai bank account. In that way you will be able to show 12 monthly transfers with bank statement for 2nd extension 40k for marriage v 65k for marriage. In reality if you opt for extension based on marriage the 400k for 2 months prior to application+ under consideration period is a sweet deal as with final stamp you can use funds as you wish. Unlike extension retirement. -

What really grinds your gears in Pattaya
Sorry, I've just found another thing that really grinds my gears... ^ Why do people that hate Pattaya so much always come into the Pattaya forum to post their hatred of Pattaya. If you hate it so much, why keep reading about it. They should all be made to post where they live so that us Pattaya people can go on their forum page to express our thoughts on where they choose to live 😉
