So she had to overtake the offending car once ?

That reminds me of a famous dialogue in Police Squad ...

Several times I have seen a car coming up the road, lights flashing, hazards on, forcing their way through traffic. I always move and let them go. My Wife once asked why they drive so stupid, to which I pointed out that you never know if they have an emergency, so just let them go, and if they are in front they are no danger to me. One day, it could be you, as it was in your case, and nobody knows how they will react in such a stressful situation until you find yourself in it.

Yep....  Son in a baby seat, Wife semi-conscious the passenger seat, breathing...   quicker to just carry them to the car and rush to hospital than call and wait for an ambulance.

Fortunately, with the hazard lights, and frenzied flashing of the lights it seemed most people were 'alert enough' to notice that this was not a normal situation and I found that many gave way...

At one point, on Sukhumvit, I recall going around all the traffic waiting to turn right, then pulled across the front of them and pushed / forced my way into the on coming traffic to turn right across them - hand up to apologise, but flashing and hazards still on...   others gave way, as if they knew this was not a normal situation... I was quite surprised (positively) by the response...

...  I half expected to get pulled over by a Policeman...   I'd have shouted (in Thai) 'Hosptial' - they'd have got the message and I'd then expect an escort...

... none of that happened, but I was able to 'slice through traffic' and no one seemed to put up an objection and try and block me for which I was quite grateful...

... had someone tried to block me in that situation, I'd have done my best to get around them, but ultimately I may have ended up scratching or damaging our cars...  (I'd worry about that later - priority #1 - getting to ER (and getting into an accident that would slow us down on the way).

I'd say so. I'm particularly afraid of Basketball Americans when they get angry driving. Even though Thais are more dangerous they will very rarely exit their car to start fights. There's entire road rage channels on YouTube with nothing but fights breaking out over driving which is commonplace in Thailand.

What is a Basketball American?

Beep your horn the next time a driver in front of you is waiting for a green light and doesn't move quickly when it turns green.  Hell, might even get shot.

In Indonesia, thats called the Jakarta Millisecond... 'the time it takes for a light to turn green and the cars behind to start hitting their horn'....

Thankfully Thailand is not like that...    the drivers pull away from the lights slowly and with caution because there is always someone 'jumping' the red light... All drivers know this and understand the 'slowly-slowly-cautious' approach when entering a junction after the traffic light turns green.

That doesn't avoid problems...  'it records them' when you have problems !!!

.... and either exonerates you...    or suddenly gets lost (or data deleted) if you are at fault !!

Mr. Sunny explained to the police that he was rushing to take his wife to see a doctor due to a medical emergency. He claimed that the other car suddenly stopped, forcing him to brake abruptly, resulting in his wife bumping inside their vehicle. In anger, he got out of his car to confront the other driver.

Despite his explanation, Mr. Sunny was charged with causing property damage and threatening behavior. He has admitted to these charges.

Other car suddenly stopped.... 'nuff said.

Police in America are super strict on road rules, he wouldn't make it a Month in my home state without losing his license. So, not sure where he is from (wild guess NYC), but driving like an idiot in the USA will get you serious points ($$$$) on your license/Insurance, and with repeat offenses he could end up with suspension or revocation.

This is very true. That’s where the $$$ comes from. But road rage’s are like the wild west. Both parties unloading their clips on each other. Left 5 years ago but my says it’s gotten worse. One shouldn't drive here with a short fuse.

The video is useful if we are right, it is natural, we must not be guilty.

But this depends on us...

In Saudi they ALL do that at the lights. As soon as it turns green, they are all blasting the horns. One time I was at the front, and the raghead behind, true to form, blasted the horn as soon as the light changed. So I left the car in park, got out, strolled up to his car, and asked "yes, what do you want". This was replied with a mouthful of grunts and hand waving to go on. I casually looked at the road ahead, and said "oh, sorry, I thought you wanted me for something". Of course, by the time I got back in my car, the lights were red.......so was his face.......

Not necessarily, maybe he slowed down and she passed him normally, then he overtook her again.

Wichit-On Thursday (August 29th), an American driver was arrested following a road rage incident in Wichit.

According to Ms. Sand (alias), a 26-year-old, she was driving on the Bypass Road toward a shopping mall when a car abruptly overtook her twice without signaling. She assumed the other driver was in a hurry.

At the red light near the Darasamut Intersection, the same car stopped next to hers. The angry driver exited his vehicle and attempted to open her locked door, causing her considerable fear.

The police traced the foreign driver through his car’s license plate. The car owner, identified only as Mr. Sunny, a 44-year-old American national, was summoned to the Wichit Police Station. He holds an international driver’s license.

Very sunny, indeed. Too long outside without his cap obviously. Brain was melting down. Seize his assets and send him back to Donald.

Just driving like a Thai then.  This doesn't make sense to me, so he overtook her, then she must have overtook him, in  anger and then stopped suddenly, no wonder he was pissed, trying to take his sick wife to see a Doctor in an emergency.

Yeah I ALMOST understand.

Dashing ( with haste...an EMERGENCY!!!! MUST get to hospital!) ...But , hold on. I need to stop this rush to the hospital in the middle of an emergency to have a spirited argument with a citizen of the nation  of which I am a guest. This may take a few minutes, honey. This emergency ...oddly enough....just became back seat to ...'I require an argument with another driver !"

Must have been some kind of super-duper emergency eh?

Pull over, stop.  30 seconds? Open door, walk to other car.  30 seconds?

Rant at driver, who may be terrified. She(he?) may have no idea of what's going on. Finally acknowledges the mouth-foamer at the door. 45 seconds?

It takes a bit for the emergency person to feel they won the confrontation, and does a"congratulatory strut back to his "emergency" 60 seconds?

Starts car, looks around, finds his re-entry point into traffic and continues his "emergency" trip to the hospital 45 seconds?

That's 3 mins 30 seconds.

That is no emergency. That is an entitled person who thinks their lack of planning by themselves, now constitutes an emergency on the surrounding traffic.

Pffft

In an actual emergency, you would have your window down and be gesturing to all that you needed help and understanding. If you descend to anger immediately upon meeting with typical traffic issues.... you are an entitled dip wad.  I would bet my paycheck that if the police ever found this person, no matter the circumstances....he would be charged somehow.

You couldn't make it up! How did she get ahead of the other car after he overtook her?

"She assumed the other driver was in a hurry" Most people that drive fast are!

He holds an international driver’s license.

And an IDP?  How long has he been in country,( must be a while if the police traced him through his license plate). Why has he no Thai license? Sounds a bit dodgy to me.

Coached college female softball team. One girl late for practice told us how an unfair ticket was the problem. Explain, says I.

She was following a car ( closely) coming to an intersection. 3 through lanes, 2 ;left turn, 1 right turn. She was in left lane  ( no lane to her left yet as the left turn lanes were up ahead) The car immediately in front of her moved to the lane to turn left, and right in front of my player was the last car ...stopped...in a long line of cars stopped waiting for the light to change. She gave that driver a Prestone Enema, and whined it wasn't her fault.  OK. Whose fault WAS it?  You were the only moving car. He was stopped behind a car thaT WAS STOPPED. aND HAD BEEN. stopped. You hit him. From behind. While he was stopped for a red light. I told her she was driving carelessly (not recklessly) and should have gotten a ticket.

She loudly exclaimed "That's EXACTLY what the MFer did. He gave me a careless driving ticket!"

You can lead them to water....

Didn't she realise that yanks are better than every other country and of course have the right to bully other drivers?

Every single time i hear a farang complaining in a bar, restaurant or even a supermarket checkout itself always a "septic tank".
