A 28-year-old man tragically lost his life after jumping from the back of a pickup truck and being run over by a car in front of his mother in Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi. The incident occurred on the night of August 31, along Route 323 between Kanchanaburi and Thong Pha Phum, near kilometer marker 152 in Ban Thung Kang Yang, Sai Yok District.

Police from Sai Yok Police Station reported receiving a call at 20:20  about a fatal accident. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the body of Mr. Chokchai (last name withheld) lying on the road. His arms and legs were broken, and his head was severely crushed, with blood pooling over the asphalt.

The deceased had been riding in the back of a pickup truck with his mother when, under the influence of heavy alcohol consumption, he suddenly stood up and jumped out of the vehicle. A following car, a Nissan registered in Kanchanaburi, was unable to stop in time and ran over Mr. Chokchai’s head, killing him instantly.

The driver of the Nissan, visibly shaken and in tears, was too distraught to provide a statement to the police. A friend of the driver, who was also in the car, explained that they were driving toward Thong Pha Phum when they noticed the pickup truck in front of them suddenly swerve into the opposite lane for no apparent reason. The driver attempted to follow suit but couldn’t avoid running over something. Upon stopping and checking, they realised they had run over Mr. Chokchai.

Mr. A (a pseudonym), a friend of the deceased who had been traveling in another vehicle, shared that he and Mr. Chokchai worked together in Nakhon Pathom. They had planned to return to their hometown in Thong Pha Phum that evening. Before leaving, Mr. Chokchai had been drinking heavily at home.

As they approached the accident site, Mr. A heard Mr. Chokchai’s mother banging on the back of the pickup truck. Fearing she needed to relieve herself, he pulled over, only to discover that Mr. Chokchai had already jumped from the vehicle. They quickly circled back to find that Mr. Chokchai had been run over and killed by the following car.

Mr. Chokchai's mother stated that her son had not argued or had any conflict with her during the ride, though he appeared very drunk. When they reached the incident spot, he suddenly stood up and leaped out of the truck before she could stop him. The first car following them managed to swerve in time, but the Nissan could not, resulting in the fatal accident.

Police believe that Mr. Chokchai, heavily intoxicated from drinking liquor, may have needed to relieve himself but instead decided to jump from the moving vehicle, leading to his untimely death. The investigation is ongoing.

She was always such a proud mother.

Nah, too drunk to know what he did in that case, which makes him a fool in that department as well.

Have you ever been intoxicated with alcohol, and not regretted the day after what you've done, that'll make you a fool as well.

Actually, I have never been more drunk than I have been able to control. What would be the fun in that? Doing things that you don´t remember or regret, is that your fun in life? In this case, so drunk and uncontrolled that it ended in death.
