Should I open a 7/11 in Thailand

Featured Replies

I got nothing to do all day except post on this forum. I am bored out of my mind and need something to do. I was thinking what better way to break the do nothing cycle than open a Franchise.

So, you have been so bored since at least June 2022.

Going home will relieve boredom more than opening a franchise.

All the fascinating conversations with the hi-so educated Bangkok lady not doing it anymore?

I'd like that but they don't seem to exist in Thailand...seems you have to rent the tool and the tool operator as a package

or buy the tool  if you want to operate it yourself.

When I came here there were virtually no laundromats, except the ones with a few with crappy machines. now they are popping up everywhere.

One of the women I used to work with owns about twenty of them and she is making bank.

If you can afford to do nothing then do nothing, opening a businesses   is a lot of stress and hassle,  maybe find a hobby instead ?

When I first came here they had  no laundromats  but plenty of

Suk obb reet (wash dry and iron) shops run from the homes of anyone who bothered to do it

( free solar power hypo dying and UV disinfectant)

they still exist but yes the laundromats are very popular now.

Which one seems like easier money to you?

Loads of laundering going on I imagine.

Walk from Mae Sai to the southern border. Start a charity website along with it.

The machine/automated option is "easier"  in terms of physical work but takes a lot more upfront investment

there is also the problem of vandalism ,theft from the money slots

persons washing their shoes, dog blankets, excrement soiled bits and pieces  etc etc    easier maybe  more profitable  don't know.

do you have any hobby ?

Teach yourself to play or take lessons to play an instrument.  Buy an ebike and pedal about 50 kms every other day, in every directions you can think of, away from your house, on every road.  You can use the E part to return.

Or simply do the same, 10ish kms, walking.  Once done, drive to another area, and do the same.  Get a fold up ebike, and may be even more interesting, after bored with everything within 50 kms.  Throw in the back of the car, and start riding 50 kms away from the house.

Hell Yeah! Go for it! That will be really fun!

Opening a 7 Eleven is the most sensible thing to do but in Pattaya we need competition for Windmill, similar to Dollhouse and electric blue, can you do?

Yep, hobbies are better unless he needs to make money, if so 7 Eleven franchise may be a winner

In Pattaya the launderettes are everywhere so Thais have done it again, saturate a place with the same business

My wife has a few washing machines in the condo building. The entire building is owned by her friend, so she does not pay rent. After electric, water and the the machine investment plus the repairs every 3 months she barely makes a profit.

So unless you own land and you have to rent the space it is almost impossible to make this work.

Well that certainly proves that laundromats are not profitable.

Sounds about right, probably some of them are cash launderers

Open a language school to teach Thais to speak Russian, Chinese and Hindi.... oh don't forget Arabic and Urdu.  Don't bother with English - that's soooooooo yesterday!
