President Kamala Harris
Your comment is just what is wrong with the Republicans. They sink to name-calling. Just like their pseudo-leader. Without him, maybe the Party would fare better. But what do I know? I'm just an observer. -

Gun permit, licens
Ok, regarding Switzerland, there are a lot of guns then, right? Northern EU countries??? Aaaaahhh! I am from Sweden, and I know how many guns there are there. I have numerous times been sitting in bars and nightclubs where someone have pulled out a gun under the table. I think even Agda 93 up in Norrland will have a rifle on the wall and a gun in the drawer. 😉 UK, yeah! As the police almost not use any guns, the criminals will not feel the need for it either. However, we all know there are many gun lying around waiting to be used. The Japan should not have any guns, is somehow a very strange to read. There are a lot of guns in japan. However, the Yakuza mostly prefer to stay with the culture and use the way of the sword. -

I Love Donald Trump
You're the same party who claimed in this topic that the Inflation Reduction Act stipulated that "Biden/Harris introduced the 'Inflation Reduction Act' (that worked great eh?) which forced business to tax all tips and make an estimate on those which were not 'reported'. " Had you read the article you linked to you would have known that was false. And then you claimed that Trump's claim that he saved Obamacare "He did. When it went to the Supreme Court and he won, it was clear doing what he wanted to do would cause more harm than good - so he backed down and did not completely shut it down. In that sense he 'saved' it - maybe next time he will listen to those who said 'shut it all down anyway'. " When I pointed out this was utterly false, that the Supreme Court actually ruled Obamacare constitutional in 2012, and that Trump pushed to get Obamacare repealed during his first year in office, you regurgitated the above ridiculous falsehood. But at least when you were challenged on this, you bravely and honestly....evaporated. -

Cheapo Funeral......where, and how much.
Maybe you can get Thai ritual funeral? They put body on pile of wood logs, burn it and next morning go to pick bones which they "float" in river or lake. My gf went to two of them and showed video to me. It sounded a bit "barbaric" first but it wasn't at all. It was a beautiful old way to say goodbye. Thais believe person comes back in some shape and form so no crying. Lot of food and celebration. I wouldn't mind to go same way. -

At the end of the day, the Americans must choose the lesser evil who they deem is better for their economy and the lives of regular people. -

Former Army Chief Set to Lead Neo-Conservative Party
The thing about 'hierarchy' and 'equality' is that, ironically, you need both. Hierarchy follows from the fact that you can't govern a country of 70+ million people without 'organisation' and 'administration'. There's always going to be 'leaders' of one kind or another and at various levels, and - in modern mass societies - millions of 'followers'. It can't in PRACTICAL terms be otherwise. The nearest countries to reconcile the 2 in reasonable ways are small-but-modern countries like the Scandinavians or the Netherlands or NZ. And in Australia's case, lucky to have both a strongly egalitarian culture (traceable back to settlement by convicts) and great wealth. The issue is how the 'leaders' become and remain leaders and how they are moved on when their time is up. In countries where all power is narrowly concentrated at or near the top of a hierarchy, force is usually the only means of moving people on. As to the MORAL aspects, 'equality before the law' is the basic concept. This works well in modern countries but is always subject to traditional cultural attitudes (ie who is a 'better' or 'more valued' person than another and for what reason). Thus 'snobbery' or 'class consciousness' remains strong in some otherwise modern monarchies (UK obviously), and obsession with wealth (eg Usofa) is a modern blight on egalitarian concepts. Of the 4 countries you cite above, only India has much resemblance in all of this to Thailand, and that because of the caste system - that is, an unmoveable classificatory system having no useful bearing on quality or skills or anything else. In that it resembles also the UK. China however is different, because its founding ideology is one of equality for all, but the PRACTICAL problem of running a nation of over 1 billion people means that a ruling class gradually forms and perpetuates itself (lots of sons of famous fathers) and, through corruption, begins to misuse & steal the nation's wealth. There are no simple answers. Just lots of blood, sweat & tears. -

What really grinds your gears in Pattaya
From what I can see, it started many years ago... they used to earn $1000 a year and then the call centers moved there and they started earning $10,000 a year and came here on vacation as what they felt was wealthy tourists who deserved special privileges for their phenomenal wealth.. maybe that is still going on. -

Pro Trump Electors Planning To Block Election Results
Of all the underhanded things that Trump is already doing behind the scenes to try and steal the election when he loses to Harris, this one is the most concerning. It seems his focus is now less about campaigning and trying to win fairly and more about trying to hi-jack and subvert the whole election process. States like Georgia and Pennsylvania, with pro-Trump election officials now in place, and voting laws being changed last minute to give them overreaching powers, could refuse to submit their election counts and, thus block providing vote certifications from their states. This unscrupulous conspiracy could potentially delay the counting of the final election results for months and eventually push certification of the election to the Supreme Court. This would then place the fate of the election results into the hand's of Trump's own appointed Supreme Court justices. I'm sure the rule of law will prevail on this in the end, and those states would end up getting removed from the whole electoral college vote process if they refuse to submit their election results on time. But the fact that Trump has the means of potentially fragmenting the US presidential electoral process again, or attempting to even stage something like this, brings his level of deception and criminality to a whole nother new high. I still don't understand how anybody in power in government related to the election process would still be willing to commit criminal acts on Trump's behalf, seeing how so many of Trump's henchmen already ended up paying such a large price for their involvement with Trump when trying to illegally overthrow the election results back in 2020. Guess there is really no end to the number of people willing to act criminally on Trump's behalf. But Trump has never cared about winning or succeeding in an honest way. His whole life has only been about trying to get anything he wants by any and all means of hook and crook. So this is just more part and parcel of how he has done things his whole life.
