Border Run To Wang Prachan Malaysia

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

My last Non-O multiple entry 90-day stamp expired this month, so I traveled to the Wang Prachan border in Satun to obtain a 60-day Visa Exempt.

I explained that I wanted to return on the same day and was informed that a fee of 2000 baht was required.

After paying the fee, I received a ticket number which I had to present on the Malaysia side and again on the Thai side upon arrival.

Everything went smoothly. I inquired about the frequency of doing this, and I was told that currently, I can do it as many times as I want, but the rules may change in the future.

I hope this information is helpful to some of you!

Thanks for report.

Yes many folk reading too much into word "unlimited" for land  border entries.

Yes, unlimited "for a fee."  There is no "official fee" to enter Thailand or Malaysia Visa-Exempt.

It is nice they let you make the payoff directly, instead of through a middle-man / agent.

Just out of curiosity and following on from this, after having done a 60 day visa exempt and a 30 day extension at immigration, then doing a border run ( land or air) and obtaining a new 60 day visa exempt, can that then be extended by 30 days again at immigration?

TBH it seems a rather large loophole if you can just carry on doing it!

yes you can, at some time immigration on entry will question you and may refuse entry

Thanks BBT for sharing.

It seems, they made an own version.

Did you also did a MDAC to enter Malaysia or with this ticket, it wasnt necessary ? How much that costed?

No MDAC needed to enter Malaysia at this border, it was requested months ago because I put a post up about it but they've stopped it for now. The "Fee" of 2000 baht to come back the same day is paid on the Thai side at Imm departures, no agents are involved.

Hello,

Are there any recent reports, are things still the same since I was last there?

Update From This Border

My 2nd Visa Exempt this year, and all went smoothly.

I paid the "Fee" of 2000 baht and was given a ticket number and a complimentary umbrella because it was raining...which was nice.

Was stamped out, walked over to the Malaysia side and gave them my ticket number and passport, the IO stamped both in and out and was told I can go back now.

No problems stamping back into Thailand and nothing said to me by the IO officer.

Looks like a well-oiled machine. Thanks for your report.
