I would say that one issue is that we don't really get to see most of the downsides in Thailand, due to the fact that we are in a pretty good position.
One of the key differences between East and West is the rights of the individual.
In the West, the rights of the individual are put first, even where it is "bad" for the group. In the East, the rights of the group are out first, even where it is bad for the individual.
We're fortunate enough to not know how bad things can be in Thailand, as we are generally in the group living a reasonable life. We aren't particularly vulnerable.
I disagree. there has been a deliberate shift in many European countries to bring in swathes of immigrants and the public was expected to shut up and take it in silence. Anyone who raised concerns was labelled a racist, bigot, xenophobe etc.
It doesn't really work like that.
The massive over-reach by the EU was bound to create a rise in political partys like this. They were just too stupid/arrogant to see/acknowledge it.
Actually, Russia has been incredibly strong beyond anybody’s expectations. The full force of NATO with the exception of mass deployment of NATO troops has been thrown at Russia and yet, the Russians are still advancing on a daily basis. The majority of western arms have proven impotent against a peer adversary.
This is now just a contest of the west against the rest and I have no doubt who will emerge victorious.
