A lot of deep thinking on this thread.

I think that might be a mistake that many make, over thinking things from a western perspective, especially those who have been sadly brainwashed and conditioned by feminists .

With Thai females they think with their hearts, not their heads.

Best to keep it simple, don’t ask any complicated questions and to completely skip over any foreplay, it just confuses them.

If that is what you believe of all Thai women then you are probably not capable of asking any complicated questions. 🤣

The evidence does not support your generalisation, you are the exception if it is true what you are saying. This is how it normally works:

"Both saw him as the main earner and both considered that he controlled the

family finances. They had a joint account, into which his salary was paid, while

her salary was paid into her own account."

"We have a joint account into which his money goes and the household expenditure is made

from."

retarted thailand where a farang girl married to a thai can get citizenship or at least PR very easy

equal gay marriages and all, great

what about some basic human rights, for farangs... right to work (no excluded jobs), buy a house in own name, land I mean included for the nit pickers, no 90 day prison game

My wife says I’m heartless, my response is “it’s how I maintain sanity”. And no, she is not financially independent on me, she has her own money. Nothing is more blinding than an emotional quagmire and if guys want to lose their head and mindlessly jump into a money pit and crash and burn, then I’d suppose it’s well deserved.

You said, "retarted thailand....."

More like "retarded West".

Hundreds of thousands of people put one foot on English soil and say the word "Asylum" and they are handed a nice free hotel room for the next year or two, how retarded is that.

Or allowing stupid farangs to marry and bring low-life bar girls into England, many wait out five years to become British while stealing all the farang's money and then move on to the next one.

I have heard many sob stories of this happening, it does make me laugh though.

I don't mind filling in an online form for the 90-day reporting in Thailand, I can spare three minutes to do that.

From the article, you have extracted a couple of lines that support your view and have ignored all of the rest which does not support your view.

Plus what about the real-life experiences of yourself and the people around you?

It's quite interesting, when I was a Cayman lawyer earning 6 figures I got my then wife a job as a secretary. She earned 60,000 dollars on top of my salary. Do you think she paid for the rent, food or necessities? No. All saved for her.

I had a female lawyer colleague, who had a handyman husband, I have to assume she paid the very expensive rent and food costs at the time.

I would say in the lower economic stratas where both have to work they have to pool it all together, but where the man earns more, or the sole income, he would pay for everything. Or if the woman does, then she would. That's my experience. I've never met these people who supposedly do everything half half and split costs exactly and have serious doubts they exist.

In that case, you are only mixing with poor people and it must be a poor neighborhood you are living in re-climbing into a pickup truck.

Nothing to do withthe neighborhood.
In Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) they are rebuilding the Mittraphap Rd., tunneling the road between The Mall and the Macro, and a lot of workers are day-workers. Travelling back and forth on the bed of a pickup.
There are in Korat "High Class" settlements like the ones in Phuket or anywhere in Thailand.
But these are not for the common Thai people.
Shows your attitude, supremacy, towards the "common" Thai people.

Old foreign men honey trapped for fortune by younger  women in the destination country.

A kind of pretty common happenings in Sout East Asia.

Same tales are also often heard from the Philippines as well.

Foreign males(often middle to old age) were left penniless after giving away so much of own money.

When the fund runs out, tossed away by the younger local females.

As stated below:

I see lots of mutually beneficial relationship, many old codgers who might not be able to afford caregivers back home can dangle promise of western countries citizenship or inheritance and have the thai wife be caregiver

Yes, I have noticed that.

Thankfully all quiet on the western front now.

Just do short times, 2500 baht or less. Far cheaper and you can still walk around unwashed and unshaven and fart as much as you want, smoke loads of weed, watch porn and football 24/7, never get bitched at, eat what you want when you want (2am? Pint of Ice Cream and Oreos? In bed while watching football? Priceless), go where ever you want when you want, buy what you want.

Most married folks as old as me dont seem very happy.

So my take on this is substantially younger woman, older man, total recipe for disaster and car wreak emotionally and financially.

And a point about that. When things go south when you're younger, you're working and more importantly you have time to recover.

Things go south when you're 60+, you just don't the resources and more importantly the time to recover the loses.

Now we get on to thing where I both struggle and laugh..

Thai women 'know' how to treat a man. Now me and Mrs G are 55/65 so we're up there and sex isn't what it used to be, but still good, but that aside.

She's a pretty Westernized woman having grown up in Chicago. But cooking, she will fight hammer and tongs about NOT letting me cook. Maybe there is something in the DNA about her getting pleasure out of cooking for me.

On other aspects of recreating the 1950's, she's pretty OK letting me do the laundry lol

LOL! Many old farts should keep their "thing" in the trousers and stop believing in "Santa"! They are fools who believe they achieve love and happiness! SUCKERS!! I am one of those old farts, and I am happy as can be ALONE but with just friends around me.

What a sad outlook on aging and your fellow expats. Many of us know exactly what we are doing, and if past a certain age, do not have any problem keeping the "thing" within trousers. I am being treated well. Once that changes, then changes will be made.

Sorry, I can't account for dim people, if guys can only retain a woman if they pay for them then it is not my fault.

I can give you my contrasting story though.

During the 1990's and 2000's I was earning about £140,000 as a freelance software engineer a year through European contracts and one USA contract,  it was mostly tax-free seeing as I set up the company in the British Virgin Isles.

My then-wife had a 150-seat Thai restaurant in an expensive area in England from 1994 and for the next 27 years, the takings were £12,000 a week, and the profit margin was high.

I think after salaries and other costs, tax etc she made a profit of about £150,000 a year, our two kids went to private school all of their lives.

We pooled our money and bought a few houses over the years, they are now worth millions of pounds, and we retired early.

So that is one example of a male and female pooling their resources, therefore, your claim that women either expect not to work or keep all of the money themselves is not the case, it might just be happening to people like you.

It has everything to do with the neighborhood where people live, well-off people will not be the poor ones jumping into the back of a pickup truck.

I have no supremacy towards the "common" people but Thai people certainly do have an attitude toward them, there is a huge class system here but if you are living in an area where your neighbours jump into the back of pickup trucks then you will not be aware of that.

For example, I would not have a clue what happens in a very rich area like Knightsbridge in London as I do not have a spare 20 million pounds to spend on a house there.

I agree with you on your ".....recipe for disaster....." comment as it is not natural for a young woman to fancy a much older man, he will remind the girls of her dad I bet.

Some guys genuinely think Thai women are different and they do fancy old men, no young woman in the world would fancy a substantially older man, but they convince themselves or are convinced it is true.

Regarding housework etc, you need a lesson on skulduggery. 😄

You wash up to start with but then do not do a good job, you break a plate or two accidentally on purpose, and you are then banned from washing up, same with the laundry, mess up a few times.

Cleaning, do a half-hearted job.

Cooking, no one would eat my food.

But I must admit, I never cook or clean or wash up, etc as it is all done without me even noticing, oh except for cooking that is, I take note when the missus is cooking. 👍

On the other hand:

What we have here is an age old issue. For millennia men have been searching for a fountain of youth...

An older man comes here and finds a younger attractive female. When he is with her, he feels like he is 20 again. Is there anything else that can make him feel more vibrant and young than having a lovely  girlfriend who loves him so much - real or not. He has discovered the fountain of youth...

Can you put a price tag on this miracle? Is there anything else in the world that can accomplish this miracle?

I must admit you are right there, and kids, especially girls know the trick.

I would have my teenage daughters mow the lawn.

They quickly learned if they did a totally half ass***ed job, I just say, screw it and do it myself.

Humans in general are a devious lot!

I'm not so sure about the article for that age group. I'm mid 50's and not much interested in sex or women these days. The interest is just not there for me. I can still achieve and maintain an erection but it's something that happens during the act and not beforehand. I can see people coming over for an exciting holiday or a fling, but not long term for women.

At this point I would not bother with an international flight from the USA.
