Some advice/opinions please on moving to Hua Hin
Sounds pretty good jojo, thanks for the advice. I hope to visit Hua Hin by the middle of next month, my gf is the chef in a busy restaurant here and will be on holiday by then. I’ll put together a list of properties and in the meantime get the house painted before I look for another visitor with more money than sense. -

Onward ticket provider (new to me)
Exactly this... 'some sites' will not accept debit-cards.... I've no idea why, its not clear why, and certainly there is no indication or statement that debit-cards are not accepted, but when attempting to make payment on certain websites a debit-card would not be accepted, only a credit-card when through. This happened to me with Emirates a number of years back (it could be different now). BUT... I wanted to change a flight and pay the change fee..... I tried to use two different debit cards, which wouldn't work. I tried to use a friends debit card, which didn't work. So I switched to my Credit Card and no problem.... This was 'over the phone' and not online and the 'Emirates call centre staff' also had no idea why this was the case. So... the comment that 'some sites do not accept debit cards' is an accurate comment..... though its understandable that many will not have encountered this difficulty - the issue is usually found out through trial and error when first attempting to pay with a debit-card and getting it refused then switching to a credit-card and the transaction is successful. -

We are a disgrace. I think I will start telling people I am Canadian, they seem to cause about a one hundredth of the incidents that we do. Nice people, very polite, good manners and know how to behave. They are trying to ban us from parts of Spain at the moment, and I feel it in Phuket also. I think denial is part of the problem as we see on this forum, it isn’t just the Russians we complain about, it is the Thais also. Makes me cringe to be honest. -

55...foreigner prices. I stayed in a beach road hotel for a while and helped the reception with a few technical issues. Later he showed me a business card written in Thai exclusively, in case I wanted a massage in the room. 200 baht for a four hands massage. Normally the Reception would add their 'commission' as the customer wouldn't see the card handed out to hotel reception. Reception didn't ask nor accept any commission. I gave a 100 baht tip to the girls, so paid 300 for a four hands massages. Fell asleep anyway 😊 To be fair, it was a few years back. -

Must-Know Famous Thai Ghost Stories
Not sure if I am allowed to plug stuff here, but I wrote a short book a while ago about all the ghosts, spirits, magic and so on in Thailand. It was based on an article I wrote for a magazine a while ago and grew into something larger. I mostly just wrote it as I became interested in the topic after researching it. It is only on Kindle though. It's called Haunted Thailand: Ghosts and Spirits in the Land of Smiles. It might be of interest if you enjoyed the above. Apologies if this is not allowed or annoying, it just fits exactly with the topic.
