Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra visited his daughter, current Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, on the evening of 31 October following her brief hospitalisation for a throat infection.

Earlier that day, Paetongtarn had taken medical leave after doctors diagnosed a bacterial infection that caused bronchial inflammation and hoarseness.

Paetongtarn shared a video of her father’s visit on her Instagram Story, captioning it with a lighthearted message that read, “Youngest daughter falls ill, Dad rushes over, bringing dinner along - cutest ever! Thanks, Dad!”

The clip and caption sparked warmth and support from followers, who were quick to wish her a swift recovery.

The visit highlights Thaksin's close bond with his family, especially his daughter, who has taken on a prominent role in Thailand’s political sphere, reported Daily News.

While Paetongtarn recovers, supporters are hoping for her prompt return to her duties, with her father's presence providing comfort during this brief setback.

This is typical of Thais. Maybe a bit of tonsillitis or pharyngitis and it's off to get a jab or off to hospital. Bit like when it's spitting rain you see them covering their heads.

I panicked for a fraction of a second when I saw the photo.

I thought OMG. There are two of them.

Don't they mean "especially the prime minister"?

I met a Thai woman with a throat infection once in a BJ in Pattaya.

Just sayin.

He looks ghastly.

The PR photo ops aren't what they used to be.

I used to have to drive to the local university, and I noticed the students very rarely wore a helmet, unless there was a checkpoint. If it rained then up went the umbrellas, particularly the guys. Just shows which part of the body is most important in the eyes of the educated prospective Thai citizens

Such a shame, any other Thai with a sore throat just goes about leading a normal life

Alas this is a family who love medical attention, even if only for dandruff

He should engage the same doctor to look after his daughter that did such a good job to restore him to perfect health after a near death series of illnesses that befell him

while  incarcerated.

Probably a throat infection resulting from her recent overseas performance.

My first thought was - being her father's daughter, who does she have to suck (up to)??

He actually looks amazingly well for a guy who was very recently so sick he was on the verge of dying of undefined terminal illness, so sick in fact he couldn't even hold his head up, required neck support for that. What an amazing recovery! His medical team should patent their therapy for a chance of winning a Nobel prize in medicine!

One is a doppelganger, might come in handy....

Was it the Police General Hospital, VIP Floor?

Yeah what is that? I get inane answers when I ask family/friends about this.

Sky is very dirty, rain is dirty.

Not clean.

etc

Sure, but you practically live by the seaside way down south, what the heck are you talking about?
