In a heartbreaking incident in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi, an 84-year-old woman lost her life when her neighbour accidentally reversed a pickup truck, unaware that she was standing behind it. The tragedy occurred at approximately 07:50 on November 1. Police Lieutenant Colonel Supakit Kasudom from Nong Prue Police Station was dispatched to the scene, along with rescue personnel from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation, Pattaya.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a red single-cab pickup truck, registered in Rayong, loaded with a large 1,000-liter water tank. Near the truck’s rear, they found the victim’s body, identified as Mrs. Taeng, aged 84, lying face down, she had suffered severe head and facial injuries.

The incident left onlookers and family members deeply shaken, especially her 25-year-old grandson, who was seen crying by her side, mourning the sudden loss of his beloved grandmother.

The driver, 43-year-old Mr. Taweesak, who had been a longtime neighbour and friend to Mrs. Taeng, expressed profound sorrow. He explained that as he was reversing the truck out of his driveway, the water tank blocked his view, preventing him from seeing her. He emphasised that the incident was completely unintentional, and he was devastated by the tragic outcome.

CCTV footage from a nearby camera captured Mrs. Taeng at 07:51 as she was only steps away from her home when the truck unexpectedly reversed, resulting in the fatal collision.

Police are currently continuing the investigation, interviewing witnesses and the driver, as they follow legal procedures to address this unfortunate incident.

Tragic, reminds me of a similar event at a market in Rayong. Thai drivers pay little attention to what is in front of them, and it seems none as to what is behind them.

I guess he doesn't know about her whereabouts, Pattaya, Phuket or Hatyai

oh dear Georgealbert,   this is very very sad news and a tragic accident.  Granny made it to 84 and the damn neighbor got in the way.

The grandson who is 25yrs old was crying by her side in grief .... it makes me sad.

RIP granny.

Judging by the state of that truck it is probably not taxed or annual inspection done therefore not roadworthy legal ffs!!
