My Thai wife said to me nearly forty years ago, "Do not get into a confrontation with a Thai. If you have a problem, let me deal with it." Sound advice. Dealings with Thais is all about 'Face'. Loss of face is unforgivable for them and dangerous for the person perceived to be responsible. If you have a Thai wife or Thai friend, let them try to deal with it. Just my opinion.

Give it a few weeks, if it's still to noisy.

Move again.

Noise is all part of Thailand's culture.

But yes, I see it as manly anti social behavior by a selfish few.

I have lived in 5 different locations and every single one had a people noise problem, burning problem or soi dog problem.  Getting higher up in a condo didnt seem to solve that problem either. Ive noticed that there are just some countries in the world where you just arent going to get your beauty sleep every night. Too many people enjoy being loud when they shouldnt be and no laws protecting the peace. I have learned to sleep with a youtube lightning and thunder 24/7 video going all night.

This curse of the noisy neighbor is an extremely sensitive subject. It is almost 100% guaranteed that if someone object, not only things might get worse, but he/she will have a life long enemy! This is the very reason that these morons carry on without a care in the world.

Well, the only other thing on could do is to create a louder rumpus than him! - but how many of can resort to that? In the absence of the law, we are helpless IMHO.

I am presently experiencing not only loud music,  but over grown trees in close proximity to my house. Now I have decided to relocate (just after 2 years)!

I will be honest, Thailand may not be for you, and probably most Tropical regions also. It's not for everyone. The noise aspect of Thailand goes well with me. Thais generally have a good level of being considerate whilst letting people live. I gel well with them in this way and have done for a long time.. apart from the dogs situation. I don't dogs running at me when I haven't entered your property, make some effort to control them. But it's not that big of a deal either.

your gotta either be looney or barking mad ...   I'm not sure which one  !   :vampire:

while your wife did offer sound advice 40 years ago,  I think that this loss of face is a bit like their preaching and practice of Buddhism,   it's all smoke and mirrors,  they act like they are so precious and honest at the temple but once they're back on the street they will lie, cheat & rip you off as quick as lightning.  I've seen this happen to many many people over the years.

Loss of face is just another word for being embarrassed,  or being caught out.  I couldn't care less about their loss of face attitude to be honest ... it's a fake word for '  got caught out  '

just speaking the truth ....

In my experience there is not much you can do. It's either put up with it or forfeit your deposit and move. A lot of the time they know you can hear it and like to see you annoyed.

Hopefully, you negotiated a one month deposit and not two months in case this situation came up. Living around other foreigners in the future also helps.

Read this in the news years ago......

Yank on a ferry smoking in a no smoking area............ in front of the other passengers the Yank belittled a Thai barman who asked him not to smoke.

The barman waited until the Yank dozed off then slit his throat......he bled out on his lounger.

Good advice from your wife

Hi folks, I live in this gated townhouse but I’ve got this neighbour which is a block away who blasts their Thai music in tge afternoon
I’m assuming who lives across or right next to them could hear even louder than where I am at and I don’t quite get why other Thai neighbours don’t tell the <deleted> to stfu and put up with the noisy

i seem to be the only foreigner here and im sctually scared and dont want to confront them because either i get hit in the head with a brick or my cars get vandalizef or they will turn it louder or i might actuslly beat them to their deayh,,,

fir those that encountered whats ur tip?

i just moved in, a year contract

i dont want to take  beers to them and talk

You say afternoon  c an you be more specific.;

The reason that the neighbours are not complaining is that they may not be home.  Middle-class upscale also means that most people are at work or school.

Walk by the house and take a look at who is home.  It may be the kids are home and partying until they go back to school.

I would post a note in Thai with translation verified by Google and Bing on his door.

Inform them the music volume is to loud, or the direction should be adjusted so it does not disturb the neighbors.

It sounds like it is played frequently at higher volumes.

Do you have an association manage the property?  Ask inform them and ask the best way to handle the loud music. Maybe they have the ability to Fine them if this is an ongoing problem.

Lastly go Talk with the tourist police if possible to be educated on what can be changed.

Do not be angry, agitated, or display hostile behavior.  Behavior psychology talks about the wall going up, they stop listening and are not willing to compromise

I have pondered on this and other matters in the Thai balance of things and the potential downside. I retired to Thailand over 13 years ago … wow! I learned there was a greater degree of freedom in some aspects; you have more freedom with your property (downside, no pesky zoning laws means a bar can move in next door). No pesky police vehicles with radar guns on the highway (downside, one of the highest road death total in the world). Sabai, sabai certainly can be seen as a positive … live and let live but …

Whatever you do....do not give any indication that you are the one who is bothered or the one who might, potentially, take action.

Hang back, see if the Thais sort it out.....(very doubtful).......then get 'clever and nasty' in equal parts.

Can't go into details, but I had a similar problem and resolved it without anyone knowing I was the aggrieved party.

Another words.

Don’t be the village snitch.

Or one might require stitches.

A Thai guy near me who occasionally has a penchant for singing Thai karaoke (badly and loudly) on his Bluetooth speakers, with all the windows open. He is actually a friend of my GF, who texts him to tell him how bad his singing is, and suggests western songs to sing. e.g. Whitney Houston

Somehow, one night he connected to his next door neighbours bluetooth speakers instead of his own, and gave them the shock of their lives when his voice blasted out.

As mentioned dealing with this problem and Asian Thai offender is different.

As I mentioned do not physically confront the person or problem 1st.

Collect evidence, video recording over many days.

A typed note in Thai only, being diplomatic in your choice of words, explaining the problem, noise to loud could hear clearly X houses away.

Maybe add you have someone who works late at night and needs to sleep during the offending hours.

Wait.  Happens 2 more times place the note on the door and vehicles for house.

Wait.  Next level is Association management if a managed community.

Wait, If there is a community leader or president communicate with them.

Wait, go visit the Police at station and talk about issue. provide them all the evidence and steps you took to resolve the issue, make it clear you would like the police to visit and talk to them.

Wait, If no action from that police station talk again to different person.

Note Pattaya City seems to be requesting music bars to enclose their space or adjust the volume.  The noise issue is at least being recognized and addressed now.

If you don't include their disastrous road behaviour I would say about 90%.

I would say about 35-40 %

I have rented houses on 2 estates in pattaya over the years.

both about 50-60 houses and only been disturbed by about two, houses ( dogs Karaoke )

most people act respectful to each other, sure some times people have parties but that's just life.

I do believe people should do there home work before renting a place.

go have a look and listen at night see what's going on.

In nearly 20 years here, apart from road behaviour which I previously mentioned, the only problem I ever have with Thai's is queue jumping, when it happens I put a stop to it immediately.

Yes, I have noticed the middle aged ladies do it far more than the men,  Thais that is.

Anyone want to pass comment on the Russians, on this . :cheesy:

Yes, I agree it is usually middle aged ladies who jump queues, in the many times I have stopped people jumping into a queue ahead of me, not once has anyone questioned me.
