I'm a member at Villa only. I collect pts and tell the cashier when I want to use them for discount.

Is that the same system at Makro, BIG C and 7-Eleven or do they discount a little every time you shop there automatically?  🤔

Omg the dreaded coupon/voucher checkout. Just my luck to always end up standing behind you then (just kidding!). On a slightly different topic. How many of you always end up in the slowest queue as I invariably do? It may look the shortest, but don't be fooled. Everything that can go wrong, does, roughly in the following order:

Item scanner can't read barcode

Promptpay not working or qr code scan

Price not the same as shelf price

Bogoff but you only took one item

Cash customer hasn't got enough so manager has to be called to remove item(s)

Cards don't work

I have the gold card from Fascino which gets me a 4-5 % discount.

1 year the girl announced that I could use the points I had accumulated the past year. About 20k baht in purchases.

I wasn't expecting much and wasn't disappointed . I was gifted a lovely coffee cup.555

I see 7/11 have a membership I didn't know they never ask me when I go in, I was with my wife yesterday and they asked her for her number which is her phone number so next time I go in on my own I know now,

It was part of a promotion to attract shoppers. Like stamps or whatever. But when I came to cashing mine in, it was just "Cannot". So all my hard earned points were rubbish.

Whatever.

The alternative is to send you back to the help desk to get a temporary membership number, would you prefer that ?

To stop her or  colleagues getting any bonus points/rewards get  a temp membership no. at the help desk before shopping.

Without entering a membership number the cashier cannot ring up the sales.

Complete nonsense.

Worst could be standing behind someone who wants to become a member or someone who wants to buy and register a sim card.

Wow! You must have been n Thailand looooong time, maybe same like the bar girls love you loooooong time. Stop with your B.S.! At every Makro it stands, the thing below and more.image.png.45677006e3498f9f63a7072683ddd9e4.png

Cut the sarcasm Gottfrid! For your info I have been shopping with my wife and NO card in Makro Chumphon, Prachuap and Hua Hin. Just give a phone number same as Lotus etc. We did get a card to see if there were any advantages but no. There are none unless you have a business!
And I have no interest in bar girls which has absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

I can only speak for Big C, where I used to shop a lot. The points that you collect are worth a bit, but not much. They send an SMS when the points are going to expire, and a year's worth of points would usually get me a discount of 100 baht or so.

The real value of the membership was that nearly every week there would be a promotion for members where you got a set discount for spending a certain amount on one receipt on certain days (usually Friday-Sunday) - often 120 baht off when buying 2000 baht of goods, for example. I easily got over 1000 baht in discounts each year by doing my shopping on the assigned days.

I remember now. I used my phone number as my membership id. So when they ask you "mee bat my?" Or simply "you have card?" it's easy. And yes, they do add up to reductions.

You are just lying straight out. They ask for a phone number. Ok, but you don´t have a card, so they do not find it, right? After that, they scan another code and let you buy.  You understand now? Without sarcasm, worrab?

If the phone number is accepted, and you don´t know about it, you should probably ask your wife what else she is hiding.

One thing I hate is being called a liar by someone who does not know me!! And I do not like people who suggest my wife might be hiding things from me!!
I know what has happened and if you cannot accept that………………..which seems to be the way you carry on with many of your posts.

I totally agree. Personal abuse is totally unacceptable. People can say the vilest things about you and get away with it. If they said it to your face.... Well, they'd pay for it there and then.

Ok, you know what happened. Do you know, what I know. I know that they need to either scan a card or enter an already registered phone number that is connected to a card. Otherwise the system, that is centrally controlled does not allow for scanning the products nor make a purchase. A single store has no possibility to change that.

To finish off this subject, you know what you know and I know what has happened. End of!!

And the rest of us know that that is false, because we've been shopping at multiple Makro branches for years without a membership.

As others have stated multiple times in this thread, the cashier does indeed always ask if you're a member. If you say no, she simply proceeds to check you out, and then issues a small-format cash register receipt. No questions about phone numbers, and no scanning of mystery cards.

If you say yes, she scans the card and issues a large-format red and white fanfold VAT receipt with your name and address at the top.

The card has nothing to do with small or big receipt. A big format receipt is connected to the one who have show business papers. Private card holders always get small receipt.

You seem to be forgetting you are dealing with the font of all knowledge...
