Trump Declares Victory and Promises a "Golden Age" for America

Bush 2000: 50 million votes

Bush 2004: 62 million votes

Obama 2008: 69 million votes.

Obama 2012.  65 million votes

Clinton 2016. 65 million votes (Trump 62 million)

Biden 2020.  81 million votes (Trump 74 million).

Harris 2024.  67 million votes (Trump 72 million).

2020 seems like quite the outlier here compared to previous elections and this election.   Where did the extra 15 or so million votes go?   Seems Biden is the most popular president (in terms of vote count) in US history.

Silly comment. Ok 64.5 +/- million Americans did not vote for Trump but the undeniable fact is that a whole lot more than 65 +/- million DID  vote for Trump and lots of blue flipped red.

Yes, that happened too. It is not a basis to dismiss or to ignore  the 64.5 million. A President  is President for all, not just those who vote for him.

You are correct. Getting more votes in both the popular vote and the Electoral College isn't a basis to ignore the votes for Harris but what it is is a basis to declare victory. As for Harris her votes across the board are much worse than that of Biden's numbers in 2020.

Why should I?

I don't live in that strange country far away.

Obviously, there will be lots of implications for the rest of the world. But it's unlikely that I will experience them in my everyday life.

For sure. The loss is a significant repudiation of the Democrat election strategy and the way the Democrats presented themselves.

If the Democrats do not learn from this shellacking, then they will not be a factor in 2 years. However, this election is going to initiate a purge that has been a long time coming.

Does that have a relation to the Putin's kompromat with the golden showers?  Alleged, of course.

It will take an unsympathetic Brit (to whom you can relate) to explain it wasn't about Putin.

And Donald has a proven record of being the most spitefully vindictive President post WWII, if not in US history. Nixon is his only challenger. That is why Bezos, Washington Post & LA Times made no endorsement for president.  They were scared of what he might do to them, if he won, but it is what America wants; A vindictive nasty man with a seventh grade education level.

These poor runts that elected him, have no idea how bad he is going to eff them, and the US, over. BTW, some days it is not bad thing, being old.

Yikes. Welcome to a new world order.

The dems absolutely need to take some responsibility for this. Some think it was about misogyny. Wrong. Exit surveys show Harris was equated with Biden and both were deeply disliked. I did not like her, so I can only imagine how conservatives felt. Everyone I spoke to in the past few weeks said how unlikable she was. We must learn from this.

The Dems need to dismantle the party, and rebuild it from scratch. Every official should be fired.

You must have learned them term repudiation from CNN. I remember when fungible was the word. Fascist, racist, ham handed, blowhole.

No, I don't own a goat. Muslims eat goats, but I don't think many Haitians are Muslim. But Trump hates Muslims, too, as evidenced by his ban on Muslim travelers. But anyway, Trump was on about dogs and cats.

Trump did indeed refer to dogs and cats which are, sadly, eaten in Haiti, and in several other countries around the world.

No doubt. Problem is, CNN can say nothing about different policies. Kamala admitted she had none (which is the worst thing she said during the whole campaign). What joy could be derived from those failures? So what else did she have but fear and hate?

While it is true that Harris didn't articulate policies, Trump didn't either. His one message was immigrants. The left weren't prepared to campaign on the politics of division and so lost. Here come the Progressives. AOC will be old enough next election.

Harris is nothing more than a footnote in history. That is the difference.

The only politician claiming his leadership led to a Golden Age, I could recollect in modern times before yesterday speech, was Nicolae Ceaușescu. Trump is only the second one.

The two men had many things in common. Both have (had with regards of Nicolae Ceaușescu) a sweet tooth for gold objects and specifically for solid gold taps, solid gold elevator push buttons, and gold-plated toilet seats.

Both believed they were loved by their people and rightly so, given their staggering achievements.

Both had loving families and ambitious children ready to take over when the time came.

I can only wish better luck to Donald Trump, since Nicolae Ceaușescu was not the object of much gratitude from the Romanian people, despite the latter been fortunate enough to experience an amazing golden age under his rule. Nicolae Ceaușescu was killed in an anti-bolshevik revolution on Christmas day, in 1989.

Below the poster of the movie 'Tales from the Golden Age' (original title 'Amintiri din epoca de aur'). The title of the film refers to the alleged "Golden Age" (by Bolshevik propaganda) of the last 15 years of Nicolae Ceaușescu's regime.

A remake of the film, this time set in Donald Trump's America, is in the works at Fox Entertainment studios.

Spoken just like a whinging member of a minority group,   how appropriate

I just saw something on CNN that makes me feel a little better. It seems the most significant status of people who show up in how they vote is education. The figures show that about 66% of those who voted for Harris have a college degree, as opposed to only about 33% of those who voted for Trump. Only about 40% of US citizens have a college degree.

So, again, I am in a minority group of those with a college degree.

You mention his "proven record".   What spitefully vindictive things did he do in his previous term?   I don't recall him using legal technicalities as a means to try to convict his opponents?   Do you have examples?

Many colleges teach and practice DEI and other woke BS.  They are full of liberal professors peddling their personal beliefs.  I did not graduate with a degree, but had enough credits, but not the liberal credits required.  In other words, I only took courses that interested and benefited me; mostly real estate, finance, business and foreign languages.

Glad you feel better about yourself.
