Going to South Africa in Dec.

Anyone know where I can exchange THB for ZAR in Pattaya? Tried next to Friendship but no luck.

Try the big banks at 4th floor in Central Festival. Kasikorn and Bangkok Banks would be first picks.

Won't be an easy task and risk very bad rates.

TT exchange has it on the list.

But 10000 THB would buy you 4255 ZAR (main branch).

The currency market rate (for reference only!) is 5211 for 10k.

Rates in Bangkok are better (VASU e.g.).

 

I think you would be better off with THB - USD and changing USD in South Africa?

Doubt it and rates even worse if any.

Change Baht to USD or Euro here then buy ZAR when you get there.

 

If you find ZAR here the rate will be very poor.

Even if you can do the exchange I think unless yo do it at the main bank for whichever you choose you will have to come back to the bank as I doubt many banks holw SA currency.

JUust exchange enough at the airport to pay for what yo need do not do your exchange there.
