The world class unregulated hub of trade no less 🤔

How is it in Hua Hin, the zimmer frame/colostomy bag capital of Thailand for farangs?

Prostitution, drugs and absolute ignorance towards the law - welcome to Thailand.

The first thing to do when a new law is published - try to find out how to circumvent it or who is there to bribe.

As long as there is very little to no law enforcement ..........

If everything was regulated, Thailand would just be another European country.

Or maybe just a better Asian country 🤔

Forget the Pattaya sewer, go to Langkawi.

I looked it up....

famous for both its outstanding natural beauty and unique flora and fauna.

Sounds as dull as dishwater.

Sure, they get a 'taste' not to interfere, But I expect this publicity will create an about face.

Do I really need to go to Pattaya to tell the Police how to solve the problem? Just arrest them one by one, fine them 50,000 Baht, and confiscate their stalls. If they reoffend, jail! Problem solved!

Not just confiscate but destroy all products, including the stalls.  The vans and trucks are the big thing.  Confiscating them, impound them, and just sending the vehicles to be destroyed will slow them down.  Lock the offenders up for the night and fine them as well as confiscating htemoney they have with them so they cannot use that to pay the fine

I see that the Farang Expat Temperance Union is out in force in Pattaya and beyond!

"We never eat fruitcake because it has rum,
and one little bite turns a man to a bum.
What's the sorriest sight in the whole human race,
Is a man in the gutter with crumbs on his face."

This isn't Russia you know!

No but if you want to stop the problem then you need to do it.  In any other country if you break the law with drugs or illegal activity you are arrested and anything that is thought to be a product of the crime can be confiscated.

If these people are selling illegal substances then they are breaking the drug law.  Therefore, anything they have at the time and any equipment or product that they are using at the time of arrest is subject to seizure by the courts and police.

Therefore it is not russia Hell do it there and you are never seen again.

What I am saying is that there are laws. If you start enforcing them, along with plains-clothes patrols like they do to check out the bars for underage talent, then you will clean it up.

If you slap them on the bum lightly and say bad boy or girl, that is not going to stop them. They will just add the fine to the cost of doing business and will be right back out there.

NANA is getting back to it's old self with the people setting up bars on stools.

Good god man.

This type of entrepreneurial spirit, ( street karts )   is part of Thai culture.

( they are already very poor)

And you want to do the above to them.

What are you on.

Shame on you lot.  :stoner:

ignoring the law with apparent ease. Despite frequent police patrols, vendors openly resume business the moment officers leave, leaving residents and tourists baffled by the seemingly powerless enforcement.

I doubt the law is ignored with payment of sufficient "tips" to t he "frequent police patrols": is it safe to assume the police are part of a criminal conspiracy? Residents aren't "baffled by the seemingly powerless enforcement." They know it costs money to de-claw a cat

What's wrong with that?

That sort of phenomenon has been one of the biggest Thai tourist attractions.

Pea Brain bureaucrats' Empty Pride from  their senseless desire to Look Like Another Singapore.

It only does More Harm Than Good all the time.

The perfect example of such idiocy is, the proposal of forced relocation of BKK food venders to the specific area.

“This lawlessness isn’t just a petty nuisance, it’s a public safety issue,” said one frustrated visitor. “Traffic is blocked, there’s nowhere safe to walk, and the police don’t seem to be able to control it.”

Correction. the police don't seem to want to control it.

Very unexciting, but that's Malaysia for you. Did I mention the beef bacon?

A better bet is Koh Kut, the southern bit that belongs to Cambodia.

Didn't find any bacon for breakfast, that's true. But had amazing seafood dinner served with a wide choice of tax free wines . The scenery is amazing and you can swim in the sea. Hotels are cheaper than in Thailand now.

BTW there seems to be a nice community of western retirees there too. I am not interested be some here might appreciate.
