I just came back from the parole office I have to report to for the crime I committed.

What is your immigration office? In Jomtien this is not true unfortunately. I have multiple entry visa and last time they clearly told me I need new TM30 every time I enter the country. They even threatened with fine if I don't do it next time.

My office is Jomtien, and I have never been asked for a tm30. My last reentry was September last year, and I had a new extension and new passport in March this year, so I had to visit in person.

Next 90 day report I also had to do in person, for reason I explained in another post, so if I needed a tm30 they sure would have told and fined me on one of those occasions.

I do have a registered address, with yellow tabien baan, so not sure if that makes a difference

Your story is hard to believe, Jomtien requires copy of TM30 for everything you do at immigration. And they do certainly ask for the recent TM30 and not following the immigration law. Many people reported the same. You can check this thread:

Do it online!

Good idea but even that is not without it's problems. This going to the parole office every 90 days is just ridiculous. Is there any other country in the world does this?

If I knew that I would ever have to report to anyone I would never have stayed in this Banana Republic of Thailand.

So you can cancel your need for so called parole anytime you want, your choice!

Really?? I take it you mean by paying an agent.

Just once, only 2000 Baht fine. I have been doing this for over 10 years now. I never waste my time with 90 reports.

That is a good idea, but you are still reporting to your IO once a year. I just do not like the idea of reporting to anyone as there is no one in this world better than me.

I call this a Bullshido post, same as Steven Seagal's Bullshido martial arts demonstrations.

It's impossible to get an extension or do anything else at Jomtien without having a TM30. It's one of the required photocopy documents you MUST provide.

I can't fix stupid.

I have my own yellow tabien baan, and that is the copy I provide. You think I should issue myself a tm30?

I don't understand.

I left Texas, and now live in Thailand.  I spend about half a day in total, a full day in a bad year, handling immigration formalities.

Why wouldn't Americans like it?

After all, that's what we signed up for when we chose to expatriate to a foreign land.  We knew the rules beforehand.

That is not true, I never knew anything about this parole nonsense until I was here a few months.

Besides when I first came here no one ever had to do 90 day reporting unless they did the 400,000 or 800,000 and that was their choice.

All one had to do was go to the border every 90 days, no bothering about any immigration or agents then.

I was told the exact opposite at my IO with my wife as a witness, and so it has been proved every time since then.

Even different officers in the same IO will sometimes tell you different. This is Thailand.

That's from some random law firm and I've never heard a category of "if caught leaving Thailand" as IO's don't check 90 day status on exit (that's more of an overstay issue)

I'd rather go by the actual TM47  reporting site which says the following

And this is from Thai immigration.

note

Notification of residence in the case of an alien staying over 90 days is not a request to stay in the Kingdom.
Any alien who stays over 90 days and does not notify an official of his residence or does so later than the prescribed time limit must report in person and pay a fine of 2,000 baht. Or if an alien is arrested in any case, a fine of 5,000 baht must be paid.

" I do have a registered address, with yellow tabien baan, so not sure if that makes a difference "

I also have a YELLOW HOUSE BOOK, and am still REQUIRED to have a CURRENT TM-30 and TM-47

Having delt with Jontiem for 2+ years in the past - based on WHAT I had to provide,  I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe, that a TM-30 is not REQUIRED paperwork for processing ANY "extension of stay", "COR" or "TM-47"

Read the IMMIGRATION ACT and revisions, pay particular attention to sections 4 and 38.

AND AS ALWAYS. EVERYTHING, depends on LOCAL IO POLICY

Having said the above, many a wife ( mine included when she was a GF and I moved into her condo  ) GF, and some Landlords have NO clue WHAT a TM-30 is OR that they should file one for you.

Depends on the office.

Korat don't wanna see my old yeller.

They want my wife to get a new TM-30 receipt using her blue house book every year.

Was it a day out for you? some people prefer that to 5 minutes online

It is true for me in Chiang Mai. Easy, fast stop at the Drive Up Window and then off to the Mall.
