Police in Bang Lamung arrested a 28-year-old man and his 26-year-old wife on November 18, after they allegedly set fire to a pickup truck and threatened family members in a violent domestic incident.

The case began when Ms. Suphawadee, 48, the suspect’s mother, filed a complaint at the Bang Lamung Police Station. She reported that her son, Sarawut, had damaged household property, set fire to the family’s pickup truck, and fled the scene, leaving behind a hidden firearm. Before fleeing, he allegedly threatened harm to other family members, causing widespread fear among them.

Acting on a warrant issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court, Pol. Capt. Wutthipong Kasa, head of investigations at Bang Lamung Police Station, led a team of officers to arrest Sarawut and his wife, Ms. Wijittra, at a rented house in Moo 2, Ban Chang Subdistrict, Rayong Province.

Both suspects were charged with trespassing, arson, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. Sarawut confessed to the crimes, citing frustration and depression stemming from unemployment, inability to contact his mother, and ongoing family conflicts as reasons for his actions.

While Sarawut admitted to the arson, Ms. Wijittra claimed her involvement was limited to recording a video of the incident, which she sent to Sarawut’s mother. Following their arrest, the couple tearfully apologised to Ms. Suphawadee, who expressed deep sorrow over her son’s actions.

Authorities seized a range of items as evidence, including:

• A .38 caliber revolver

• A disassembled revolver frame with associated components

• 50 rounds of .38 caliber ammunition

• Nine rounds of .22 caliber ammunition

• Two 12-gauge shotgun shells

• Three 9mm rounds

• 16 spent .38 caliber casings

• A 17-cm knife

The suspects and the seized items have been handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
