5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
Could any of you legendry learn-ed folk please help with comments on the extremely complicated scenario outlined below, if able: I've lived and worked (with work permit) in Thailand for many years, staying on extensions based on marriage, but now may end my employment with my wife's Thai Co. as am only going to be here in LOS for 5 months each year, with the intention of working remotely. I would like to explore changing over from a Non-im B visa to a DTV, as during the time I spend in Thailand, I will be working remotely for my small UK company. Benefits seem to be, I could keep 500,000 THB equivalent in a UK account and still (legally) work remotely for my UK Co. while in Thailand. OK so far? I'm guessing I'd be pioneering, suspecting there are no reports yet of someone attempting to go from a Non-Im B to a DTV. I do wonder what mental contortions that would put Thai DTV officials through though? Any helpful thoughts, anyone? -

Pattaya Police Raid Homes, Arrest 17 Chinese Nationals Linked to Cross-Border Loan Sharks
Picture from the raid. Pattaya police, on November 28, arrested 17 Chinese nationals allegedly operating as administrators for a major illegal loan shark syndicate targeting thousands of victims in China. Acting on a warrant issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court, police raided two homes in the Pratumnak area of South Pattaya, Chonburi Province, which had been rented as operational bases. The suspects are accused of managing illegal loans and debt collection on behalf of the syndicate, with evidence revealing a cash flow of approximately 135 million baht. Each administrator reportedly earned monthly salaries of several hundred thousand baht, excluding commissions based on the amount of loans disbursed and debts recovered. Police are intensively questioning the suspects and investigating further connections to the transnational loan shark network. Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos Thepchamnong, Acting Commissioner of Region 2, is scheduled to hold a press conference to provide more details on the operation, which is part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal networks exploiting the region. -- 2024-11-29 -

Man Found Dead with Head Wounds & Body Covered in Banana Leaves in Don Mueang
Picture from responders. Police in Don Mueang are investigating the mysterious death of an unidentified man, whose body was discovered covered with banana leaves along the side of a road near Khamphaeng Phet 6 Road. The gruesome discovery was made on the afternoon of November 28 near the flats of the Airports Authority of Thailand in Don Mueang district. Pol. Lt. Col. Thawisak Boonsit of Don Mueang Police Station received the report and, along with senior officers and forensic experts, arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. The body was found at the base of a Red Line railway column, labeled 304 AL, in a grassy area about one metre below road level. Items discovered nearby included a blue football jersey, a gray T-shirt, and a black shoulder bag, all stained with blood. A concrete block bearing bloodstains was also found hidden between columns, suspected to be the weapon used in the attack. The deceased, a dark-complexioned, heavyset male, was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue shorts. The victim’s forehead bore a severe wound, consistent with being struck by a blunt object. His body was covered with three banana leaves, likely taken from a nearby banana tree approximately 50 metres away. Mr. Banjong, 57, the first person to find the body, recounted that he was walking from Yaowarat to catch a bus home to Yasothon around 14.00. As he passed the railway columns, he noticed flies swarming around a cluster of banana leaves. Suspecting something unusual, he saw the tip of a human foot sticking out and immediately sought help. He encountered another passerby, Mr. Songdej, 45, and together they confirmed the body before reporting it to Don Mueang Police Station. Pol. Col. Surapong Thamphithak, Deputy Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2, stated that the identity of the victim is still unknown, as no identification documents were found. Preliminary forensic evidence points to head trauma as the cause of death, and investigators have collected potential evidence, including the suspected murder weapon, for further analysis. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area and interviewing witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the murder. -- 2024-11-29
