An 18 year old convenience store employee was seriously injured when a house awning fell on him as he rode his motorcycle. The incident occurred yesterday, November 26, on an old city road near the Tong Toei Bridge in Phanat Nikhom, Chon Buri.

Rescue volunteers from Sawang Het Baan Tung Hiang Phanat Nikhom were alerted to the accident at 5pm and arrived at the scene to find the teenager, Thanet, unconscious and unresponsive, dressed in his work uniform. He had sustained a severe head injury resulting in significant blood loss. The rescue team provided initial first aid before urgently transporting him to Phanat Nikhom Hospital.

Upon investigation, the scene revealed an old zinc awning nailed to wood lying on the ground. Various tools, scaffolding, and an aluminium ladder were inside the house.

A witness recounted hearing a loud noise of something heavy hitting the ground and, upon investigation, discovered the injured man lying in the road. The witness also observed a man standing at the scene, who then moved the zinc sheet onto the pavement before fleeing.

Police are planning to question the homeowner further to take appropriate legal action.

“I heard the sound of something heavy falling and went out to see what happened. That’s when I saw the injured man on the ground.”

This alarming event highlights the potential dangers of unsecured structures and serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining safety standards in residential areas. The police are now focusing on uncovering the full details of the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The young victim, Thanet, was simply on his way to work when the unforeseen accident occurred. His condition remains critical, and the medical team is working tirelessly to stabilise him. The community is left in shock and hopes for his swift recovery.

Police are keen on understanding the exact circumstances leading to this unfortunate event. They are urging anyone with additional information to come forward, as it may assist in the ongoing investigation. The police emphasise the importance of such cooperation in ensuring public safety and preventing future accidents, reported KhaoSod.

Poor kid.

A lamp post snapped off at the base and fell on me on Beach Rd one evening.  Thai women were screaming, even though I was the one who got hit 555

It looks like someone was doing work and was implicated  in the incident. Instead of  trying to help the victim, and calling for medical assistance, he ran away. I am not surprised. Disappointed, but not surprised.

I've started doing it when I see a cop in Pattaya.
