As a cool breeze swept through South Pattaya, the Grand Hall Market transformed into the city's top winter shopping destination yesterday, November 26th. Locals and tourists flocked to this lively marketplace, searching for budget-friendly winter gear to brace themselves for the colder days ahead.

The Thai Meteorological Department has confirmed the onset of the winter season, as a stronger northeastern monsoon and a low-pressure system from the South China Sea bring cooler temperatures to the area. This drop in temperature has sparked a shopping frenzy for secondhand long-sleeved shirts, jackets, and cozy blankets, according to a vendor specializing in winter clothing.

“The chill is definitely in the air, and people are rushing to prepare,” the vendor explained.

Many sellers reported increased sales, with affordable prices appealing to shoppers eager to stay warm without overspending. The market, renowned as one of South Pattaya's largest spots for both new and secondhand goods, buzzed with activity. Shoppers browsed through vibrant displays of colorful scarves, thick coats, and woolly hats, creating a festive atmosphere.

For tourists, the Grand Hall Market offered a unique shopping experience by combining bargain hunting with a taste of the local culture. "We didn’t expect it to get so chilly here, but the market has everything we need," said a European visitor.

With its mix of affordable necessities and local charm, the market continues to stand out as the go-to place for winter preparations, helping Pattaya stay stylishly warm this season.

After enduring a month of English summer where the temperature rarely reached 17, it's a brisk 24 here at 7.30 and I am considering putting a shirt on!

winter wear? LOL

I might change to a thicker T-Shirt, but that's about it. I wear T-Shirts until the temp reaches about 10c back home.
