You have made a lot of assumptions. You don't know if the driver is impaired. You assumed he was.

Fair enough, it is indeed an ASSumption. But.....in all my years here, it's an assumption based on probability. I'd put that probability at about 80% simply from the fact of the article (time of night, obvious high speed, bike type, etc.)

Interesting.... I wonder what none restricted job a 45 year old Belgian might be doing until 05.30, night shift at the chocolate factory?

Nitpicking, but thanks anyway.

Seriously? You wish to compare the death of a middle aged man with a geriatric palliative care patient?

The deceased had decades left to live.

You were faster. He was 45 and we don't know whether he leaves dependants behind.

"collection by relatives" sounds like he was not alone here.

Maybe he was working the 8pm to 5am shift (a shift we have at my place of employment), can easily do Laem Chabang to Khao Talo in 30 mins.

Hospitality sector has multiple Europeans employed as managers,  chefs, F&B workers. Restaurant or bar owner.

Some people may be coming home from a social  engagement or in caring for a friend.

The point is that one doesn't know why the person was out at that hour and it is unfair to accuse and to prejudge the deceased without any facts.

Other than the fact he rode straight into a block of concrete? One that he  apparently managed to get around other nights?

That's when I generally went to work in the morning.  Had to walk through Asoke's Soi Cowboy to get to the office.  That was quite an eye opener.

And since I generally woke up at 4:30 during the week, I'd usually be looking for a 7/11 coffee by 5:00 on weekends.  It's a great time to be up and around and see the world's gears start turning for the day.

My friend often works night shift , from 9 pm to 6 Am and by 5 AM he is often bleary eyed and falling asleep. Some workshifts are more rough than others especially if you work daytimes too such that the circadian rhythm is disrupted.
