Looking for Bulk Decorative Pebbles (locally)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know where I can buy a large quantity of decorative pebbles like the ones pictured below ? I'm looking to replace my grass with these to reduce watering and having to cut every few days during the rainy season.

I know I can buy them in smaller bags from most  roadside garden centers, but I'm hoping to find a more affordable bulk option.

Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If Pattaya is anything like Chiang Mai in this respect, there will be businesses that sell sand and stone which you'll see piled high in their yards, typically, many will sell pebbles of various sizes in bulk, by the cubic meter. As you're driving around, look for yards containing large piles of sand, soil, gravel, various types of stone and usually cement also....sold by the bag or by the cubic meter. You've probably driven past loads of places without realising. Beware, expect the one inch pebbles to contain much larger stone also, I just bought a cube of one inch and 50% was much much larger.

In my part of the world, the yards that sell this stuff don't usually advertise anywhere, they are typically small family businesses that sell mostly to property developers and anyone looking for bulk supplies such as construction sand and gravel chips for concrete. I just bought six cubic meters of super hard river bank stone, used to protect river banks from water current erosion. I found it at the type of yard I described earlier.

Swimming pool suppliers......

Of course Lazada have them too!

A Google search brings up a building suppliers place on Sukhumvit near Underwater world.

If you find somewhere please post back.

About 8/9 years ago I drove all around Pattaya, Siracha and down to Sattahip trying to find a source.

Ended up having to buy loads of the small bags at 40/50 baht a bag from a place in Ang Sila. Even the person I used to relay the garden used the same supplier.

No-one, that I could find, could offer a bulk alternative back then.

I would have thought filling a large area with pebbles will look and feel like a desert on hot days. They'll soon get dusty and need daily washing down. If an angry mob ever has it in for you, they will have an endless supply of stones to chuck at your house!.

typically per cubic meter here in Thailand

i've closed deals with them on the price per ton basis, it's delivered in small bags anyway and probably stored that way.

Better to just cement and stamp it with a pattern. Easier to walk on, no weeds and easy to keep clean, plus it looks better. I tried a few areas with stones and they just got very dirty and in little piles and dips. Easy to trip over. I’d stick with the grass or go stamped concrete. Good luck

You want to seal your soil??? It's getting hot with pebbles. Don't do.

No, that's not what I've done. I have one area that is laid with pebbles, it works well. It's a walk way/redundant area behind the house that I don't want to lay to grass, stones laid and I can forget about it.
