Dual Pricing in Thai Tourism: Economic Necessity or Hidden Bias?
Your statement is not 100% correct. For public universities in the US, students, whether they are international students or out of state students, they both pay a much higher rate than students from that state that the university is located in. An example would be a US citizen from New York decides to go to a public university in Colorado. That New York student would have to pay the out of state tuition. The international student, who is obviously out of state, would also pay the same tuition amount as the US citizen from New York to attend the same university in Colorado. -

Dual Pricing in Thai Tourism: Economic Necessity or Hidden Bias?
I went into Khon Kaen Zoo last week I showed my pink ID card and I was charged exactly the Thai price as the Thai people in that vehicle. It just shows you that a lot of this mess is from the south but say that if I went into the national park and showed my ID card and they want me to pay the foreign price. -

Do Expats in Thailand Often Trade Western Wives for Younger Thai Women?
Been working in LOS for 35 years, seen this happen many times. And every case is different / quite different. We had a family from Belgium living in our moo baht village (husband, wife 4 daughters - 19, 18, 16. 12). Posted here from the company HQ in Belgium. Within 4 weeks of being here the husband moved out to live with his new Thai secretary. Still supported his whole family from Belgium. Belgian wife (about 45 yo) eventually decided to take her own path and hired a handsome / hot 18 yo Thai escort boy from an agency (seen many times around the yard of the house, usually in just very short shorts. She had money, she bought him out from the agency and paid him a good monthly salary/ This became public knowledge because she shared all the details with her 2 oldest daughters 19 and 18, including the full sex details. plus many the 4 daughters saw her on the sofa, in the kitchen preparing meals with her hands inside the boy shorts and his tiny bikinis. And more. Eventually the young man gor tired of this and disappeared. So wife decided a new approach, she found addresses of Thai discos, went there are approached young Thai teenage boys (was seen with underage Thai boys) aninstantly put her hands down the pants and groped them and even sucked them in public. The 4 daughters decided this could not continue. They contacted their father and asked him to come home. He said no and refused to discuss the matter further. The 4 daughters then did some research and found the contact details of the global HR director of their fathers company. They called him and asked him to help them. HR Director quickly flew to Thailand, spoke to the daughters who had by this stage not seen their mother for weeks, she had moved in with a hot Thai boy. HR guy quickly got the facts, found a good Thai lawyer and then told the Belgian man his employment would be terminated in 1 week. Belgian man realized he had built a monster and dismissed his new Thai lover and arranged for himself and 4 kids to get back to Belgium quickly. Belgian wife had now heard the above detis and apparently had realized this couldn't continue and asked for financial help from the company to get back to Belgium. Meanwhile in Belgium the 4 daughters were living happily with an aunt they respected and who it seems a good listener. Mother joined them. Belgian husband now back in Belgium looking for work. His original company had spoken to the Belgian Embassy in Bkk and asked them to try to block the man from ever entering Thailand again. -

Anyone know if Makro, Lotus, Big C accept contactless?
"Mixing your melons" is a new metaphor for me. Not all that polite, I like to think I post coherently. I find cash the most convenient payment method in Thailand for me. If they had pay-wave with cards here, like they do in OZ, i would be all over it like a cheap suit. Takes seconds to do. I can't remember the last time I paid cash for anything in Australia. At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, let me suggest phone sellers and service providers have a vested interest in promoting phone payment over a simple pay-wave system. The strange thing about my internet freezes is they always occur in the mornings - never afternoons or evenings. Permit me to doubt that's a router malfunction. -

Trump's Sex Crime Cabinet
It is very much the nature of Donald Trump to select from the bottom of the barrel, he needs absolute fealty, and it's hard to get that from high quality candidates. It's also very possible that he can simply relate to those accused of a sex crime as they have a similar nature to himself. In addition to the sex crime issue there's also just the issue of grossly underqualified and totally inappropriate people for very important positions. It goes almost without saying that Kash Patel, whom Donald Trump picked over the weekend to lead the F.B.I., is supremely unqualified to direct the nation’s premier federal law enforcement agency. That’s what even those who know Mr. Patel well are saying: “He’s absolutely unqualified for this job. He’s untrustworthy,” his supervisor in the first Trump administration, Charles Kupperman, told The Wall Street Journal. “It’s an absolute disgrace to American citizens to even consider an individual of this nature.” Mr. Kupperman’s view is hardly an outlier: In Mr. Trump’s first term, both Bill Barr, then the attorney general, and Gina Haspel, then the C.I.A. director, went to great lengths to prevent Mr. Patel from being installed in senior intelligence and law enforcement roles. Yet the Patel selection stands out as more concretely dangerous and worrisome than many of the other questionable Trump choices. The true danger is almost less about Mr. Patel and more about what it says about Mr. Trump and his approach to his new presidency. To understand the full scope of the damage Mr. Patel could inflict, you have to understand how unique, powerful and dangerous the F.B.I. can be — and why a Patel directorship would likely corrupt and bend the institution for decades, even if he only served a few years. Choosing anyone new at this point is concerning because it is a flagrant break with tradition. There is no current vacancy at the head of the F.B.I.: Following J. Edgar Hoover’s decades-long tenure, Congress set into law in 1976 a 10-year term for the F.B.I. director, fireable only for cause. It is meant to isolate the job from political influence, and Christopher Wray — originally nominated by Mr. Trump in 2017 — still has two years left to serve. What this independence illustrates is that the F.B.I. is not, as many MAGA loyalists believe, some liberal bastion of wokeness. No Democrat has ever served as an F.B.I. director. Even Democratic presidents appoint Republican officials to head the bureau, as Mr. Obama and Mr. Clinton both did in their presidencies. Mr. Trump has been clear in what he is trying to do with a nominee like Mr. Patel: He wants to bend and break the bureau and weaponize it against his political enemies and domestic critics. Mr. Patel himself said last year that he hopes to prosecute journalists. -

Teabags
I used to drink that but switched to Chatramue Thai tea. 38 BAHT for 190 grams, not in bags though. Just make a pot in the morning and bung it in the fridge.
