Police Truck Slides into the Sea While Towing Jet Ski on Koh Samui
Picture from responders. The scene unfolded on Koh Samui when a police patrol truck slid into the sea while towing a jet ski back to the station. The incident, which occurred around 16:00 on December 7, near a beachfront road in Moo 3, Ang Thong subdistrict, left onlookers, including tourists and locals, in shock. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The vehicle, a police pickup truck, marked with “Police” and “Marine Police Division 6,” was found partially submerged approximately 15 metres from the shore, with water reaching halfway up the vehicle. A large crowd of onlookers, both Thai and foreign, gathered to witness the unusual sight. Preliminary investigations revealed that the marine police officers from Division 3, Subdivision 6, had been using the truck to tow a jet ski out of the sea to transport it to the Koh Samui Marine Police Station. During the operation, the driver reversed the truck down a sloped ramp to secure a cable to the jet ski. However, the handbrake failed, causing the truck to slide backward into the water. The incident startled vendors, local boat operators, and tourists nearby. Marine police and officers from the Koh Samui Police Station quickly mobilised to retrieve the vehicle and the jet ski from the sea. Both were eventually recovered and brought back to the station. Authorities have stated that a detailed investigation into the incident will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the brake failure. -- 2024-12-08 -

Man Alarmed as Neighbour Chants Incantations While Wielding a Knife: Phatthalung
Picture from respondes. A 55-year-old man in Phatthalung was left shaken on December 7, after encountering his shirtless neighbour standing motionless outside his gate, chanting what appeared to be incantations while holding a 30-centimetre machete. Despite attempts to chase him away, the man refused to leave, prompting the homeowner to call the police out of fear for his safety. Pol. Lt. Kamnueang Chuayphet of the Mueang Phatthalung Police Station responded to the distress call. Upon arrival, officers found the man, later identified as 30-year-old Mr. Jame, still loitering outside the house. Armed with a pole and a taser, officers cautiously approached and convinced him to surrender. Mr. Jame, whose house is adjacent to the victim’s, was carrying a large, 30-centimetre machete. He surrendered to the police without resistance but appeared dazed and confused. Officers noted that his speech was incoherent, and he seemed detached from reality. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Jame has a history of mental illness. His mother confirmed that he had been battling psychiatric issues for some time but consistently refused to seek medical treatment. Despite her repeated efforts to take him to the hospital, he resisted every time. Following the incident, his mother agreed to have Mr. Jame taken to the hospital for treatment and further psychiatric care. Authorities are now coordinating with medical professionals to ensure he receives the necessary support and rehabilitation. -- 2024-12-08 -
