Anyone seen a bite like this?

Was in bed Wednesday night and something bit me, it itched a little but I thought nothing of it. In the morning I have this red ring, 1" diameter, slightly raised, skin flaking fron the red section, looks like a burn but isn't. Mosquito, spider, centipede, what could have caused this.

Possibly a tick bite. If so then apply mupirocin on it and consider doxycycline. In any case apply mupirocin. Tick bites have the potential to cause some insidious ailments

Ticks makes simular marks, but very rear that type bites humans here

Need to go to tropical dermotolgist, make sure it's not the Thai version of recluse spider.

Google lens suggests spider bite, ringworm (aids or diabetes), bed sore.

 

I'm thinking spider bite (brown or recluse), but applying anti fungal cream just in case ringworm. 

 

Wasn't there when I went to bed, but appeared 30-60 mins later. My arm was uncovered at the time.

I agree.

I think spiders are more plentiful than ticks here in this area.

I can't say if I have ever been bitten by a spider.

I got three of these red spots on my stomach one year, about 5 years ago.  At my coffee shop I remembered seeing a black jumping spider, not much bigger than a housefly, crawling around the underside of the table but just ignored it.  And never felt any bite.

 

It lasted 10 days then went away. Completely.  No scar.  No pain or itching. But the skin hardened under the red spots. I treated it with urine twice a day.

 

One of my friends just got a similar size spider bite and three months later it is still purple. On his leg by his knee. He went for pharmacy creams and ointments.

Since you felt a bite first, spider bite is my guess.

 

If redness starts to spread into surrounding tissue (cellulitis) you'll need antibiotics....has happened to me in past. Suggest you circle the area with a  pen so essy to see if redness spreads.

Ticks do exist here, got jumped by one a couple years ago while stomping around in the hills, though it didn’t get a bite in.

A white-tailed spider bite is usually not serious and causes temporary symptoms at the bite site: 

 

• Pain: Mild to moderate pain or discomfort 
   
• Redness: A visible red mark or irritation 
   
• Swelling: Swelling at the bite site 
   
• Itchiness: Itchiness that can occur immediately or after a few days 
   
• Puncture wounds: Visible puncture marks 
   

Symptoms can last 24 hours or up to a week, depending on the person and the bite

No detectable puncture wound.

But that photo sure looks like a more inflamed version of my wrist, even the positioning is similar.

As far as I can discover ringworm is like fairy circles, starts small then expands.

My 'ring' appeared as photographed in around 30 mins and not grown.

The raised ring has subsided this morning, but still red.

I would say a tick but...

 

There is no obvious mark in the centre

There is no tick!!! Those critters like to hang on for 48 hours filling up with blood.

It occurred in bed. All the tick bites I have had in Thailand have been in the forest or overgrown land.

 

So, I would guess at a spider.

Looks like a recluse bite. I had similar years ago. Did not get on antibiotics. A 3 inch oval shaped area under the skin necrated and formed a pus pocket which i drained. Still have the scar on my arm.

 

Get on the antibiotics.

During my time in the tropics I have been bitten by a hundre different "bugs".

This worked for me:

- At the first "itch", don't scrach the affected area. Take a cotton puff, drench it in 70% medical alcohol and apply it vigorously to the affected area. Minor bug bites will be neutralised this way. Important: Act at the first itch, not 3 days later.

Not sure if this will work on spider bites, snake bites or bites inflicted by polar bears.

My nephew owns several pharmacies.  He thinks it is ringworm.  No bite in the middle.

really does look like nasty ringworm. but it would not have appeared overnight.

if it were a centipede bite you'd bloody know

just no. its not a recluse spider bite. not any sort of spider bite.
