Gee, Mr. Trump ... might I suggest you read Condorcet (influenced by both Voltaire and Rousseau who I also recommend you read for your enlightenment). He observed centuries ago that it is the surety of being caught more than the severity of punishment that results in fewer crimes being committed. No U.S. president can directly impose or mandate the use of the death penalty, as this decision is ultimately governed by the judicial system and must adhere to the Constitutional rights of individuals.

1..If you are going to keep them on death row for 20 years before execution, what is the point of executing them at all?

2..Given he was found guilty of murder, would you be happy for Derek Chauvin to be executred?

It's a shame the UK abolished the death penalty. There are plenty of a$#holes in UK prisons that are most certainly guilty of terrible crimes. Executing those would free up much needed prison accommodation.

 

They could start with Levi Bellfield and Colin Pitchfork. Then Ian Huntley and Steven Wright.

They must be given a chance to exhaust all legal recourse.. But if so many courts agree with the decision to kill him. He deserved it. It is not my nor the courts fault it takes so long. But it is a benefit for the convicted to have such time to try every option to have his sentence changed. 

I would not support killing a murderer quickly to avoid the costs of the time in prison waiting execution.
