In a disturbing incident, five men allegedly assaulted a mother and daughter in Phuket after they asked the group to lower their noise while drinking beer outside their home.

On 27th December, a man named "Mr A" (pseudonym), aged 27, approached local media in Phuket to report the incident. He has lodged a complaint with the Thalang Police Station against the five men, citing CCTV footage as evidence of the assault on his girlfriend "Ms B" (pseudonym), aged 29, and her mother, "Ms C" (pseudonym).

The incident occurred when Ms B and her mother returned home from dining out, only to find the men drinking beer at the stone table outside their residence in the Si Sunthon area of Thalang district. Initially, the group’s behaviour was unproblematic, but as they consumed more alcohol, they became increasingly noisy, disrupting the neighbourhood's peace.

When Ms C requested the men to quiet down, one of them allegedly responded by attacking her, knocking her unconscious. As Ms B witnessed this, she protested, asking why they would attack a woman. Unfortunately, a man in a blue shirt reportedly responded by hitting and kicking Ms B until she too was rendered unconscious.

Neighbours heard the commotion and intervened, helping the victims to Thalang Hospital. Following their release, the victims filed a police report. The attacker’s brazen actions suggest a shocking disregard for the law, as they did not hesitate to assault the homeowners in their own space, reported Daily News.

I suspect there is more to this. For example the victims and attackers were known to each other.

However for a group of five men to knock two women out is severe brutality. There is at least one particularly dangerous man amongst the group if not all of them.

Thais are friendly only if it serves their purpose...

If not... get ready to be Butt kicked

BKK, Pattaya, Phuket I would tend to agree......out in the sticks they are....on the surface at least......very friendly.

The second lady, Mrs 'B', should have remembered that old saying, discretion is the better part of valour, go and help Mrs 'A' to her feet yes but after seeing her get a good smacking perhaps she should have resisted the urge to scold them. Arguing with a drunk Thai, man or woman, is never a good idea, they know that now. No doubt the men are local and will soon regret their violent behaviour.

The police need to charge the attackers. What a bunch of low-lifes. That's Thailand.

disgusting behavior ....

They made the fateful mistake of approaching them..

Should have called the police as they were on their property.

Next time let the dogs clear the riff raff away.

You can also put your speaker outside and play opera.  They will be gone pretty quick.

I was advised....eerie music and scary sounds......totally freaks them out.

exactly my first thought .....   let the cops handle any possible confrontation,  don't get involved,  just call them and complain.

You just have to act crazier than them.  Come out dressed in all black, with white cream all over your face acting like a Thai ghost.  That might scare them off.  The opera music someone suggested might be a nice touch too if played quite loudly.

No, you are totally wrong and mislead by the daily amount of news. Most Thai´s are friendly, welcoming and respectful.

I've seen your comments regarding Thailand previously.

Why do Thai police only stop Farangs?

Why is there 2 tier pricing?

Why do they dislike Farangs who speak Thai and

Why do Farangs who can speak Thai, only speak English?

What about the 80 year old, beaten and robbed by 6 youths?

What about the walking street security beating up customers?

On the other hand the two week drunk millionaire visitors are an embarrassment.

The Swissie gave one kick in Phuket.  I wonder how much traction this story gets among Thai "netizens."

If the woman who was attacked is a Doctor, then a lot of traction !!...

But.... she's not a woman who the Thai public consider above this treatment as she does not hold a revered position...

Had the Swiss guy (*allegedly kicked a woman in Hua Hin (case was dismissed btw)) had a confrontation with a regular member of the population and not a Doctor, that story would not have gained traction either.

This is the behavior of a half man. An undeveloped mind, a lost soul. Absolutely nothing there. He seems to have never been taught any values, and possesses no sense of ethics, like a wild forest animal.

Where were his parents when he was growing up, and why did they fail so miserably?

As a Westerner I can accept blame, apologize for an offense caused and take responsibility for my actions. We were being loud. OK, no big deal. I care not one iota if I "lose face". Means less than zero to me what others think of me. Some will say it is a cultural difference. True. But, what about the deeper aspects of self esteem and having enough of it to be able to act like a man?

A real man accepts responsibility for problems he has caused. When that is being constantly deflected due to a pathological fear of looking bad in the eyes of others, that creates enormous problems for society. I despise the practice of face, and think it is the single greatest weakness of many Thai people.

Perhaps they knew the unlikelihood of police actually turning up.  Or thought that the drunken men who were trespassing on their property would be reasonable because they were Thai.

A lot of re-educating of the Thai people is probably going to happen over the next few years...

1. Thanks for being a devoted follower.

2. The fact is, they don´t! I see them stop a lot of Thais every time they have a check.

3. In reality, it´s not. It´s called a price for locals, and a price for tourists. If you, as a foreigner live here, you will need a driver license of any kind or a pink ID card will do. Show that, and you will get the local price.

4.They don´t. I talk to Thais on a regular basis They like when I speak Thai as we can have a much better communication.

5. It probably depends on the nationality of the person they speak to.

6. Very bad, but bad apples exists in all countries.

7. Same here, bad apples! People in the wrong line of work without the mentality to coop with things the right way.

Agree with the last, but also there we tend to see the bad ones, as most visitors are nice people as well.

You must really enjoy being in Thailand, or maybe you just need to learn to socialize in the right circles.
