Chose to not continue I agree the acting was bad, the male lead especially. clunky implausible script and low budget but it did keep me watching. The Recruit was better, although equally implausible, mainly because the acting was better. Still, what bothered me in both shows was the tattoos. Especially in the Recruit they had this beautiful girl with half her arm covered in a weird tattoo. Is this some kind of cult thing? 1 1
xylophone Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Last night I watched, "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" which was mentioned by another poster and it provided an "ok" evenings entertainment, but didn't do anything to draw the viewer into it, neither by characters nor plot! However it was supposedly based on a true story?? Not one of Guy Ritchie's better movies IMO.

LosLobo Posted February 8 Posted February 8 In the midst of the award season—Critics Choice, Sundance, BAFTAs, Grammys, Oscars, SAG, and the Emmys—we’re drowning in top-tier movies and TV series. Kicked off my weekend binge with Paradise (2025) and just wrapped Episode 4. Solid choice—this one's making my weekly roster! Episode 5 drops Monday. Shoutout to @recom273 for the tip! https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/popular-tv-shows/ https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/popular-movies/ 2
LosLobo Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I am particularly interested in good Netflix Thai-subtitled movies and TV series, as there doesn’t seem to be many recommendations here or commercially except for Netflix itself. Maybe the audience here could help more in this field from time to time, as I’m sure I’m not the only one with this interest. I know I could download movies and add the subs myself for more content, but I just want an easy approach. Appreciate any assistance. 1
oxo1947 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Watson So after the death of Sherlock Holmes ---- The series has been taken over by CBS--so I guess it comes as no great surprise to find out that Dr Watson is now black. Also just to add to the confusion they have jumped a few centuries into modern day. He now runs a hospital and solves whatever is needed while often quoting his dead friend Sherlock Holmes. The Viewers of the program have dubbed it "House 2.0"--- it gets a great 4.1 rating on IMDB & has 13 episodes , but CBS is so confident in it that its already working on Season 2. I really cant be bothered to put the trailer up---- but its on YouTube if you want to see....... Released last week.
Popular Post RayWright Posted February 8 Popular Post Posted February 8 Rummaging around on TPB found the complete unabridged set of Not The Nine O'clock News (4 series), stared Rowan Atkinson, Griff Rhys Jones, Mel Smith and Pamela Stephenson. Series 1 also stared Chris Langham as Griff only had a minor role then, this changed from Series 2 onwards. Oh we could all take a joke then. Thought this is relevant, just change the names to bring it upto date, leave you to work out who's who. 1 1 1 1

Managed almost 15 minutes dreadful total rip off of House, the black Watson and the Fagin character don't help. But simply my opinion. 1

Popular Post xylophone Posted February 9 Popular Post Posted February 9 I watched a movie recommended by a couple of Kiwi friends here, called, "Lee" and it's based on the story of ex-model and latterly, war correspondent Lee Miller, starring Kate Winslet in the title role, and she is very, very good. It also stars Alexander Skarsgård, Andy Samberg and a favourite of mine, Marion Cotillard. There are some scenes of the discovery of the Nazi death/concentration camps and they are nothing that I haven't seen previously, but might be a little disconcerting for some viewers? 1 3

Found it on tPB immediately after your review above, thanks for putting it up, watched it last night, it is indeed very good, Kate Winslet does a good job in it despite being rather old for Lee who I believe was early 30s at the time. 2 1 "Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!"
