Thailand's Household Debt-to-GDP Decline Fuels Optimism
File photo for reference only Thailand's household debt-to-GDP ratio is expected to fall more rapidly than previously forecasted, as per the Bank of Thailand's latest financial stability report. This progress is attributed to ongoing debt reduction initiatives and a newly introduced debt relief scheme. The report notes a significant decline, with the ratio dropping to 89.6% in the second quarter of 2024 from 91.3% at the end of 2023. Despite reaching lower levels, Thailand's debt ratio still towers over regional figures like Malaysia's 66.5% and China's 62%. The improvement owes much to the "You Fight, We Help" initiative, launched recently to alleviate financial burdens by slashing monthly payments and mortgage interest. However, the central bank warns that rapid debt reduction amidst stagnant income levels could lead to liquidity issues, potentially stifling consumer spending and economic growth. Growing financial vulnerabilities among households and SMEs have been highlighted, with worries about asset quality declines among at-risk borrowers. Particularly, small and micro SMEs face financial strain, with many struggling to cover interest expenses. Conversely, some large corporations are curbing new debt due to high existing levels, though they maintain repayment capacity. The business sector's debt-to-GDP ratio fell to 86.5% from 89.9% as observed during the pandemic peak. Despite concerns over potential financial strain, the overall financial system remains robust, with no signs of an emerging asset price bubble. This stability ensures a solid foundation for Thailand's future economic expansion. -- 2025-01-06 -

SO who of you guys live in Thailand?
Aaahh...now I understand. You are trying to tell me that your name-calling and general abuse towards another member wasn't really bad behaviour and that was simply my mistake for not knowing that you had history with that other member and therefore it doesn't count when you abuse them later. Have I got it now? Apologies for my mistake of showing you the evidence that you requested when you requested it. Apologies for my inability to understand anything in the way that you want me to and apologies for me thinking that your replies to me were trying to convince me that name-calling doesn't count as abuse when you do it. I understand that you only did it to help people. Thank you for letting me know that I was "assuming, like a few others here do" that abuse is abuse and not understanding that you are exceptional. Thank you for informing me that you put blame where it belongs and therefore you blame @MalcolmB for your behaviour. Since you have repeatedly pointed out my inability to understand anything, perhaps you should stop trying to get me to understand you and accept that I won't see it in the way that you want me to see it. Thank you. Which leads me to your last paragraph....Hitler? I'm not getting it. Who is Hitler in your analogy? You or @MalcolmB? 🤭 Please don't bother to try to explain. I obviously won't understand. -

Have family in Minnesota, but half of them relocated back to Norway after 100 yearsin 2016. They got the best Usa had to offer. Now citizens in Norway. I have lived in Florida several winter seasons, and the climate was quite good, except for a few days very cold mornings in my Trailer. -
