Surely they could fit something as simple as a carabiner clip to the strings and securely fitted strap around waist to prevent falls.

  • Thai safety!!  They have NO idea ?? They always launched an investigation  but that is it, no outcome, no prosecution of the employer, Thailand has a plethora of safety rules and Reg's but NO enforcem

  • "has raised serious safety concerns "   How many times have we heard this?

  • Many will know Lou was wrong, but he'll never admit to that.

"An incident has claimed the life of a parasailing operator off Karon Beach in Phuket. The operator, identified as Mr. Pathompong ...

strong winds caused the operator to lose his grip ...  Sources revealed that the same operator had fallen from a parasail on multiple occasions before".

That suggests to me that  he was the operator of the business.

"I have Never seen in the news or the internet that THAI employers have ever being penalised? please show links..."

You're the one who made the claim that employers are never punished so the onus is on you to show links to justify your claim, not me!

So a ski lift operator owns the mountain, and a wakeboard cable operator owns the cable park.

When you pick up the phone and dial ) do you get the owner of the phone company?

operator does not mean owner/operator there is a reason folk specify

The parasail rides take off and land on the (crowded) beach.

Never go parasailing from a boat that start and land on the beach, The boats with a platform you sit on at start and they just winch you up in the sky and back to the platform after the trip is like 1000 times safer.

A demonstration is now in progress at Karon Beach of a parasail boat where the rider is winched up and down from a platform on the boat.  There is no 'monkey' hanging on to the lines by his fingernails.

This has cost advantages as there is no need for the 'monkey' nor for so many aggressive, whistle-blowing ground crew touts on the beach.

Of course, the operators will not accept this as the parachute flies much lower, the customers will lose the thrill of sweeping over the heads of beachgoers while the speed boat ploughs dangerously through the swimmers to make a beach landing.  Touts will not have direct access to customers, customer turnover will be slower as riders will have to be ferried out to the speedboat when (as most of the year) waves are breaking on the shore.

Let's see if government can 'sell' this safer system to the operators who have long been accustomed to being left to get on with their business without much care about safety.
