Let her return. And then obviously she should go to jail. That's what they call justice.

Who gave you that idea? Maybe she didn't really know what she was doing, because her big brother told her what to do. But she was officially in charge. Guilty!

  • Most Thai despise him.

Nothing will change.

IMHO things are changing. Slowly, but they do change. And in Thailand, IMHO, to the better.

Those "traitors" removed the super corrupt Shinawatras who the police and judges didn't touch. I, like many people who lived in Thailand at that time, were happy that the last two coups happened to remove the Shinawatras.

Lots of people gave flowers to the soldiers because they liked that the military intervened. I was there, and I remember. It was happy party time on the streets - at least in Bangkok.

I was happy to see Taksin go not bc of the corruption but that mess of a drug war. My guess is he could have been indicted internationally in time.

Of course, yellow shirt happy af and you recall all that drama of the time. Now in power .. apparently knowing how to rule, but not how to manage a state.

So, five years of that nothing and then we have a military coup and the decade economic recession that exists to this day

I believe Thailand's better days long behind her. When was last time you heard anyone use the term - land of smiles? Interests are too entrenched and despite the homogeneous nation functioning as a family at times - the wealthy have declared war on their poor cousins

I predicted Vietnam would overtake Thailand in a decade, but I think you're already seeing evidence of this..

Their best solution? Let 30 MILLION people from developing countries stomp all over your country only to fill government coffers. Sad

Really? What's better for the average Thai? Serious question

Easy Champ. Grow up.

Said the same thing about Khadaffi, Hussein and Assad. Look at the mess/es. Life is complicated and full of compromise.

wow !!! you are a bit of doom and gloom mechant

"predicted Vietnam would overtake Thailand in a decade, but I think you're already seeing evidence of this." never happen !!! you do relise Vietnam is a is a one-party socialist republic with an authoritarian state and a Communist Party leadership,

you also have to relise that its not your country !! your opinion makes no diffrence,

IMO the Thais also have to sort themselves out. Foreign long term leasing, they'll never allow small plot ownership, even go ballistic over 50+% condo ownership. All totally stupid.

Meanwhile.. allow gambling FF s. Can't think of a worse thing that's happened here since the 2014 coup

Well, I've been in sea 35 years and worked in all these countries.  I believe my opinion quite valid as you do yours obviously.

But please inform me. Please provide ten bullet points why the country is clearly moving forward not backward. Government promises of golden corporate industrial parks don't count unless contracts signed

I'll wait 😉

Edit: it's realize or realize (UK)

Look at the last election. That was a good sign.

I expect that the next election will go further in the same direction.

The election in which a party was elected, but was forced from assuming power? Quite opposite. It's solidified change will never happen.

You're a laff n a half bro

As the personal who thought Yingluk was stitched up it would be interesting (and helpful) if you posted 10 bullet points why you think Thailand is going backwards.

SEA for 35 years and only 68 posts on ASEAN NOW....................where have you been, in a cave?  😂

You wanted my opinion, I wrote it.

I live since 30 years in Bangkok. I follow the news every day and I talk to people, including many Thais.

If you think you know better, why do you ask and then you are unhappy when you don't read what you want to read. Strange.

Your the one saying Thailand is going backward !!!

Unfortunately, that was the last time that he stood for an election so it is all that I can quote.

His party is still the second most popular (if I remember correctly).

We will never know if he would win today. He has been banned.

Just like a number of other very popular politicians.

Banned ?  Is this comedy hour?

Ah yes, I remember the spontaneous displays of delight - all those people who just happened be wearing yellow, to have large quantities of flowers at hand, large amounts of cans of soda on ice and some remarkably professional "hand written" ( in English) placards.

So convincing!

About as convincing and spontaneous as the 500 Baht rural red shirts who descended on Bangkok.

I don't think the Red Shirt protests were spontaneous - they were organised and staged quite some time after the coups.

That is rather the difference.
