Report Alleged Imposter Lures Teen in Chon Buri; Mother Vows Legal Action
Picture courtesy of KhaoSod In a disturbing incident in Chon Buri's Mueang Sattahip district, an 18-year-old man allegedly pretended to be a police spy to lure a 14-year-old girl from her home. The girl was subsequently handcuffed and dragged into a nearby banana grove. Her mother, identified as A, has filed charges against the suspect and is determined to see the case through to its conclusion. The incident unfolded on the night of June 8, around 11:30pm, when the girl received threatening messages from the man, claiming he was a police spy and warning her of arrest unless she met him outside. Alarmed by the threats, the girl was coerced into meeting him near her home in Chuen Suk 5 village, about 50 metres away. Once at the grove, the suspect handcuffed her right hand and forced her left arm behind her back, insisting he needed to take her for questioning and instructing her not to disclose the encounter. Demonstrating remarkable courage, the girl fought back, kicking the man in the groin and stomach, which allowed her to escape and rush back home, calling for help along the way. Upon her return, her mother discovered bruising on her daughter’s wrists and body, especially where the handcuffs had been applied. The girl, visibly shaken, remained in terror and distress, unable to stop crying. Her mother, who battles depression and requires medication to sleep, was initially unaware of her daughter’s absence. She asserted her daughter has no links to drugs or e-cigarettes, refuting the man's accusations. It emerged that the suspect had previously attempted to contact the girl during the Songkran festival, seeking to initiate a relationship through chat messages. After a brief pause, he resurfaced, employing the same deceptive tactics to entice her out of her home. The mother reported additional injuries on her daughter's buttocks, shoulders, and wrists, and the clear imprint of handcuffs. The incident left the girl traumatised, especially anxious at the sight of anyone resembling the assailant. Determined to seek justice, the mother has reported the matter to the police, insisting on legal pursuit. It was noted that the handcuffs used were atypical and not standard issue for police use. The Sattahip police are actively investigating the case and are working to apprehend the suspect to face legal proceedings. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Thaiger 2025-06-10 -

Thai bank - restricting incoming amounts of foreign funds
I suspect that @ronnie50 is talking about his originating UK - rather than beneficiary Thai - bank. For instance I'm required to call my UK bank from Thailand to initiate a SWIFT transfer these days since they have, for some ridiculous reason, withdrawn their facility for doing this online. Resultant phone call costs plus the general inconvenience and hassle arising from having to arrange SWIFT transfers in this way tend to make the Wise option a no-brainer in my case. -

Trump's crackdown on LA protests is pure hypocrisy
Regardless of the discussion (although nationalism is definitely part of the topic) I thought I would just point out your hypocrisy. -

RFK Jr.: HHS Moves to Restore Public Trust in Vaccines
... Dr. Paul Offit, a former member of ACIP, and a current member of the FDA’s vaccine advisory panel reacted strongly, saying, “RFK Junior is doing exactly what you would expect him to do. He’s a conspiracy theorist who believes everybody, but him is deeply in the pocket of the pharmaceutical industry. He is fixing a problem that doesn’t exist. Also, I really worry about who he’s going to bring in and whether we’re going to be able to trust the ACIP moving forward.” ... Secretary Kennedy says he has removed all 17 active members, many of whom had terms that were not set to expire for several years. His Wall Street Journal essay imagines ACIP to be some kind a shady cabal, rather than the measured body of experts who serve specific terms following a long and careful nomination process. No evidence regarding ACIP’s current membership was offered to explain the need for this move. ... It’s unclear whether Secretary Kennedy has violated the letter of his assurances to Senator Cassidy [the Republican senator who helped clear RFJ Jr's narrow Senate confirmation], the spirit of those assurances, or both. But Senator Bill Cassidy did post the following on Twitter/X earlier, which I also felt the need to respond to. https://insidemedicine.substack.com/p/alert-rfk-jr-entirely-vacates-cdcs -

A playground found under the ocean 10,000 years old ?
I would guess that this was cargo carried aboard a ship that broke up and sank a few decades ago. The 'nearby coral' dating doesn't really sound convincing.
