President-elect Donald Trump would have been convicted of illegally trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results if he hadn't been elected, according to a Department of Justice report released to Congress.

"Would have," "could have," and "should have" are used to express hypothetical situations or possibilities in the past. For example, "I would have come earlier, but I got stuck at work”.

Somebody needs to tell the leftest at the Bbc  to read up on the above hypothetical situations.

Also worth mentioning :

No mention of the Constitutional legality of Smith’s appointment! Or

that Smith was a ICC PROSECUTOR in the Hague .

Which was one of many reasons why he lost his case in Florida , Smith was

illegitimate.

DOJ says Trump would have been convicted.

Reminds me of Sol Wachtler's famous quote:  A prosecutor could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. (I'm paraphrasing).

I have no doubt that a jury in 97% Democrat Washington DC would convict Trump.  And thousands of potential jurors would give their eyeteeth to be on the jury that stopped the Bad Orange Man.  In any number of Blue venues.

Is there still a stigma attached to that?

Seems a bit harsh in this day and age.

I imagine a huge number of people reading that will be so grateful for your explanation.

I, for one, had no idea.

You don't understand. Kamala coulda had class. She coulda been a contender. She coulda been somebody, instead of a worthless, word salad-spewing, token DEI hire, which is what she am, let's face it.

He does have a record of political prosecutions that end  up being reversed, but not until the Republican’s life is ruined.

Any stigma attached to that?

MAGAs live in a fantasy world, where their messiah is more infallible than a Borgia pontiff. They attack any critic as if the critic is a Danish cartoonist drawing haram images. A cult is a cult is a cult.

Just imagine if Kamala had 'done the right thing' and refused to certify the election, and Biden was intimately involved (according to his own appointed staff) with a fake elector scheme. Imagine if Antifa set up gallows next week in Lafayette Park and began chanting "Hang 47".

45 is guilty, only saved by endless delays, the pitty-appointment of Garland as AG, and a corrupt and captured Supreme Court.

Just as egregious as 45's behavior re the election he knew full well he lost, is his theft of highly classified documents, for which ANYONE else who pulled that stunt would be jailed AWAITING trial, not the beneficiary of a clown judge hoping to get a seat on the Supreme Court.

We will have a convicted felon as POTUS, who would have had many more convictions if actual justice had been served. That a plurality voted for him is an indication of what George Carlin said about the intellect of the average person. SO be it.

Those of us who know better have schadenfreude to enjoy as 47's total incompetence and---my opinion---psychopathy wreak havoc on the United States. It's going to be social and economic mayhem on a scale never seen.

MAGAs who disagree....just remember this post a year or two from now.

I’m sure they’ll have broken the law and they’ll be prosecuted without fear or favour. And, of course, with any political involvement.

Oh.  Is Fox an unbiased, fair and balanced news/fact outlet?  I've read way too many threads on this platform to believe that they are both fair and balanced.

I know that the BBC is way far from perfect of course.

Who is the unbiased news/fact outlet that all of us on AN might have a decent amount of confidence in?  It's not Fox.  Obviously.  But perhaps it is, but depending on an individuals's political persuasion?

You say it's not BBC, I will not disagree with you.  Way too many people don't agree to what MSNBC says.  I'd that factual or political?

Please advise.

Oh.  Maybe I got this all wrong.  Maybe it's X, Threads, Weibo, or perhaps Tinder?

Of course, Tinder is likely the most trustworthy of these...  🙄🤪

Bidens lawfare and bogus 34 count conviction didn't do much to hurt Trump, but likely did a lot to help his election as 47th! Trump's a leader and has brilliantly destroyed the democrat lawfare campaign thats sought to imprison, bankrupt and end his life with assassination x 2. The people elected Trump over the seriously flawed democrat candidate for the same reason the Coke boss and so many other very successful people are hitting up Trump to get on board with him and take part in the success's they will all bring to the country that Biden and the feckless liberals could not. Haters will abound and grovel more in their butt-hurt watching the most incredible leader in US political history and his equally incredible election victory transform the country back to brilliance after the Biden wrecking ball is finally ended. Trump's favorability is at historic highs and the opposite can be said for Biden who is approaching the lowest approval ratings of his presidency and should come as no surprise.

His resignation will have no impact on his arrest. Won't happen since he did nothing wrong, on the contrary, against the odds he showed trump 's guilt.
