Russian Father Throws Son from Speedboat Near Surin Islands, Leading to Fatality
Captain and his crew did not minced kid with running propeller, right? It was his dad who threw him under, wasn't it? Btw, Lucas - is not very Russian name, as well "Bugorskiy" is not. Rather Polish or wester UA, than it makes perfect sense. And correct would be Lukash, not Lucas >>> Lukash Bugorskiy However I'd say again: neuter him and send to fight for freedom and democracy. -

VietJet named one of world’s safest airlines in 2025
Very good airline but try getting money back from them and the gloss fades. I had a flight to Vietnam that I had to cancel for a medical emergency 24 hours before I was due to fly. Nowhere on the Vietjet website of confirmation to cancel/claim a flight. Finally found VietJet's head office contact details. Sent an email explaining all. They finally responded after a day or two and told me that I booked through VietJet Thai. Different company. I explained that nowhere does any of my documentation mention VietJet Thai. Website, flight confirmation etc all state VietJet. By now I am no show, not a cancellation. Ding!!! -

Hospital charging more for foreigners
I had this happen to me, that is, getting charged more at a hospital because I was a foreigner. I was told the government hospitals charge by the type of visa you hold. For example someone with a work visa will pay less than someone with a retirement visa. I think the logic is if you work in Thailand you are contributing to society so your medical fees are less at government hospitals. I had surgery at a government hospital in 2016 and they had me put down a deposit when I checked into the hospital. I believe they base the amount of the deposit on the usual and customary fee for the surgery you are going to receive. I ended up getting a rebate because the amount of my deposit exceeded the costs of my hospital stay. -

Thai woman arrested for stealing 120,000 baht from Russian man in Pattaya
Photo via Amarin TV By Petch Petpailin Police arrested a Thai woman for stealing 120,000 baht in cash and a mobile phone from a Russian victim in Pattaya on January 8. She confessed to spending most of the money on a holiday trip with her family. The 37 year old Russian man, Xavier, filed a complaint with officers at Bang Lamung Police Station on January 8, reporting that his black bag was stolen outside a convenience store in Soi Na Kluea 8, in the Bang Lamung district of Pattaya. The bag contained 120,000 baht in cash, his mobile phone, and personal documents. Xavier admitted that he and his friends had been drinking alcohol at a table outside the store, and when they returned to their accommodation, he realised he had left his bag on the table. Police reviewed the security footage and observed a suspicious Thai woman and her daughter move from another table to sit at the victim’s table after he and his friends had left. The woman then took Xavier’s bag and quickly placed it in her plastic bag. The two then rushed to board a baht bus and left the scene. The woman was identified as a local from Samut Prakan province near Bangkok, rather than Pattaya. She and her family returned to their home province on the same day. As her identity was clearly visible in the video, police traced her whereabouts and arrested her on January 23. The woman admitted to the theft and claimed that she had used the stolen money to pay her car instalment and fund the holiday trip to the beach with her family. The suspect was charged under Section 335 of the Criminal Law for committing theft at night. The penalty is imprisonment of one to five years and a fine ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 baht.
