What excuse might be seen as an acceptable excuse???

Just curious.

How about- I asked my agent to get the extension and was still waiting when arrested, my prostitute girlfriend informed on me as I had run out of cash for the business she wanted to start up which was massage shop/bar/beauty shop, restaurant/coffee shop?

Two officers ambushed me in a public toilet and beat me.

Some people pay good money for that service in a public toilet.

Sounds like they knew their target, and already knew he was an overstay.

The ex will sell the bar and pocket the cash.  Then go back working in a bar again, looking for the next victim.

Yes, but it is an officially pardoned reason for overstaying, with proof, of course.

yes, there're specially assigned "nurses" at BH and BRG for paperworks. However some other, cheaper hospitals are not that much cooperative. Ad yes, can do.

Has our ex squaddie hired a ghost writer for the inevitable novel yet, describing his two weeks of 'hell'?

Don't forget to include:

1. It was the trip of a lifetime

2. Squaddie used to light up the room

3. Squaddie was living life to the full.

There is even a movie about Bangkok Hilton with Nicole Kidman, and even now it seems that nothing changed in all the years.. Sadly people in prison are humans too and need to be treated a bit decently. Of course Most of them are not for nothing in prison, although punishments are often, as we can read several times, being money or being jailed.  Especially when you don't have money you will end in jail, and I know from a ex prisoner that things they want to buy are extreme expensive.

Human Right Watch is right that things have to some things have to change in Thailand and this is one of it.. a little bit humanity would be normal

Sounds a little harsh for a few days overstay. Maybe the old squeeze has contacts in the BIB and contrived to do him in.

His Thai adventure began with hope and ambition in April of the previous year, as he planned to settle and start a business. However, his dreams crumbled in November"

Maybe an overstay of 18/19 months if his adventure started early in the previous year.

Have you ever been in a jail? In the US? I have. For drunk driving. Gang members put a hit on me because they thought I was an informant, and I got out on bail just in time. The cops deliberately set your bail high so they can keep you jailed for a month until you get an arraignment and bail hearing. There are crooked guards that will put you in solitary if you cross them, with a light that's always on and one outdoor break for one hour every day. The beds are flat steel. It's not Thailand, but it's far from comfy. So if you're going to comment about the world, do your homework first and you won't embarrass yourself by sounding like an  ignoramus.

You story has a few holes in it.  Most states, DUI is a misdemeanor.

Police don't set bail, a judge does.  You wouldn't get put in general pop at country jail for traffic ticket.

Nice try ... not really :cheesy:

This is an overstay…

… the hang’em high crowd are peeing their knickers !!!

The guy was silly - locking people up in those conditions is inhumane & should only be reserved for the inhumane crimes…

It's the DailyMail, from anonymous source :cheesy:

Photos from inside the prison, with a stack of snacks no less 🙄

Seems there is details missing to this story, to just be beaten up in a public toilet out of nowhere sounds like BS. Even if you came across of those random general rogue cops you would likely be able to pay them a bit.

You guys crack me up. The guy was locked up for a short overstay - let us not forget that there are people with money in Thailand that have committed murder and never done a day in jail.
