I thought Indians in general were smart people and quick to learn the law of the street.

Maybe these are not those ?

Will they ever learn walking around with gold around their necks hugging ladyboys after midnight the insurance companies surely are not that stupid and clearly they haven't read about it

Lol - I just mentioned a couple days ago about how you almost never see any Chinese getting into trouble in Pattaya (bar brawls and such) and with "Western tourists" it's almost always drunken fights with each other or bar bouncers).

And with the Indians it's almost always something to do with ladyboys. Getting into fights with them, getting pickpocketed by them or taking them to their hotel rooms and waking up in the morning to find out they were robbed by them.

And here is yet another story about an Indian and ladyboys right on cue.

Good scam if you can get away with it. Buy a cheap, fake gold chain at a market, take a couple pics wearing it, then pretend it was stolen and try to claim an insurance payout for the value of a real gold chain.

Does insurance even cover personal jewellery ? You'd think that would definitely off the books. Too easy to "lose" something and then try to claim it. (Nevermind the insurer trying to authenticate the actual value of the item beforehand.)

I remember years ago I'd leave Walking Street in the wee hours and go to the MacDonalds on Beach Rd to get an early morning snack before going home or I'd walk from Soi 7 down to Walking Street.

I'd sit on a bench on the beach side of the road and watch the shenanigans. It was better than most sitcoms on TV and far better than most of those fake "reality" shows.

I never had a problem with the ladyboys. As soon as one would make eye contact I'd just shake my head a little bit to let them know I wasn't interested and they'd ignore me.

Then again, I wasn't dripping in gold necklaces, rings and bracelets - or trying to barter with one of them to go to a hotel room while 5 of my friends tried to hide across the road and point at other ladyboys they thought looked better (or cheaper).

Almost every problem that happens down there is the result of people doing exactly that. Flashing huge amounts of gold and acting like an entitled ponce in front of people that barely have enough to money to eat.

Or guys (Indian and westerners) looking for a cheap deal.

There's a lot of reasons why things are "cheaper" down there. None of them good.

Does seem a bit odd though when you consider how many times you hear stories about an Indian having a problem down there compared to a Caucasian (and literally never a Chinese).

LOL.

You'd hope these guys have some resources in India talking about this crap.

It happens over and over and over.

And leave your gold home Maynard!

My grandmother always told me that a fool and his money are easily parted. Who would wear a real gold neckless around Pattaya? Asked and answered....A FOOL!

Three Thai ladyboys offered an Indian man a seemingly friendly hug before stealing his gold necklace, worth about 132,000 baht, from him on Pattaya Beach in the early hours of today.

The 42 year old Indian businessman, Pravin Manik Tavada, filed a theft complaint with officers at Mueang Pattaya Police Station at around 12.20am, today, January 20. Tavada reported that he had lost a 40-gramme gold necklace while enjoying the atmosphere on Pattaya Beach.

Tavada, who operates a hotel in India, explained that he was spending his holiday in Pattaya with friends. While they were walking along Pattaya Beach, three transwomen approached them outside the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya.

According to Tavada, the ladyboys offered sexual services to him and his friends. During the encounter, they hugged and touched the group while making their offer. After the group declined their proposition, the transwomen quickly left the scene.

It was only later that Tavada realised his gold necklace was missing. He initially thought the physical contact was an attempt to persuade them to agree to the services. However, he later concluded that the suspects used the hugs and touching as a distraction to search for and steal valuables.

Police assured Tavada they will bring the suspects to justice and are currently reviewing security camera footage in the area to identify the culprits.

This incident highlights the dangers of random hugging in Thailand, particularly in tourist hotspots such as Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket. This is not the first time such crimes have made headlines.

In December last year, a Thai ladyboy and a woman reportedly greeted a Belgian man with a hug before stealing 600 euros (around 21,000 baht) from him while he was walking in the Patong area of Phuket.

....... enjoying the atmosphere on Pattaya Beach .......

Shortly, after midnight, on beach road of the planet's biggest place of ill repute? Really?

Lesson #1. Don't let strangers on the street touch you, much less hug you. Especially ladyboys, who are notorious for their propensity to commit crimes of desperation.

In a twisted way it feels gratifying when an Indian gets scammed. After all their country is the online scam call center of the world plus their street scammers chasing tourists like a dog going after a bitch on heat. He’d be the bitch in this narrative 😂😂😂

Now that’s if he’s an honest person. Else it could be an insurance fraud scam. In this case the insurance company is the bitch if staying with the narrative. 😂😂😂

Isn't this normal? The sun rises and sets, birds fly, corruption abounds and Indians get their gold necklaces stolen by lady boys.

Seems everyone in India owns a gold necklace worth over 100,000bht.

Absolutely, I've seen Slum Dog Millionaire

Fake gold and a scam. These dirty people claim wearing real  gold chains and piss into the sea in groups bcs too cheap to give a restaurant on the beach 10 baht for toilet usage. Later complain no public toilets.

Anyone wearing gold bling-bling in public deserves to lose it.  With the price of gold now, I'm surprised that more people wearing gold aren't just murdered in board daylight.

Unless the Indians were involved (such as insurance scam as so many suggest) what we have here is simple sleight of hand theft. Definition of scam "a dishonest plan for making money or getting an advantage, especially one that involves tricking people"
