Ali Express....anyone using them these days?

Featured Replies

I used to buy a lot of stuff off Ali express up until a couple of years ago. They seemed to change, delivery prices were silly so I gave them away. Products always been hit and miss I know but were ok if you were careful. I was looking for something this morning and all seems ok again. Anyone still using them?

Yes i used the other day, much better tracking, delivery in about a week. I'd still prioritise Lazada and Shopee ahead of AliExpress

Yes used them for 3/4 items in last couple of months.

No issues at all.

i noticed the prices are now higher when shipped to Thailand than to USA. It was the complete opposite just a year ago, so now I avoid them.

Has there been a change in the E-Packet treaty with Thailand?

I used AliExpress all the time from the USA, and was quite satisfied.  I found that I could buy and ship a lot of the goodies for less than the cost of postage alone within the USA.  I suspect that may end soon...

I used them a lot too before. But after Lazada & Shopee was on the market I bought almost everything there. Also the shipping time of Aliexpress items gone up from 10 days to 14 days before Covid-19 to now 14 days -1 month let me buying almost everything on Lazada & Shopee.

I've been looking into buying something off of aliexpress, and now it seems all the sellers are wanting to charge " customs fees and import fees" on the order.  I've never paid these before on any products off of aliexpress/alibaba.

Is this some sort of new scam all the sellers are trying to put over on buyers?

Yes, Thai custom started to charging it. So the chinese sellers charge it additional and ship the items direct to your home.

I only use them when I cant get what I want elsewhere, some items do have rediculous delivery charges though, they sell the item cheap then wack the profit onto delivery but then again so do some thai sellers on shopee & lazada. Delivery times have sped up though recently, had one delivered in a week and others not much longer

That's exactly what I found. Was all over the shop....the cost of deliveries seem to go up prohibitively where often the delivery was 3 x more expensive than the item. I thought maybe because of new sales tax laws they were talking about for Chinese imported goods. Lazada / Shopee never seemed to change?

I did order a 300 baht item the other day and the price at checkout was as advertised and the delivery charge was minimal. I believe the law used to be items over 1000 baht were taxable / customs duty but saying that I was never charged it or held up in customs for extra charges. See what happens
