You could replace all the fossil fuel power plants with nuclear plants or wind turbines, and all of the cars with EVs, and it would do very little to reduce PM2.5, which is almost all from agricultural burning, it’s called the burning season for a reason. Outside the burning season, the air at least outside Bangkok is usually not too bad, it’s the ag burning that causes air pollution throughout the whole country.

Don't forget all the shops that cook food open air.  The other challenge is that they have the big buldings on sides of streets and no air pushing the smog through.

There ar a lot of issues with the biggest being stalled traffic.

What a joke these people are. This is crimes against humanity.

Air is a pretty needed thing by humans.

As of January 25, 2025, at 5:00 AM local time, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Davos, Switzerland, is 53

As of January 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM local time, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Bangkok, Thailand, is 164,

I know where I would rather be......though I'm surprised Davos is 53.

That’s true, and it isn’t pleasant to be strolling along Sukhumvit Road when an ancient bus spewing black smoke goes past, but there’s stalled traffic and street stalls frying meat the whole year, but we only seem to get consistently high levels of air pollution in entire large regions of the country, well outside Bangkok, at this time of year.

What's tragic is I bet the same farmers are paying for fertiliser when they could be composting, or ploughing in, that stubble and enriching their soil for nothing.

I put all waste vegetable matter ( including coffee grounds) into a rotating composter and it's a matter of weeks before it's usable soil.

You don't get something from nothing, ie they still need to add some fertiliser.

The reasons goverment not do anything with the bruning is that they are afraid of losing voters. The party that have the prime minister was voted in by farmers and punish them is like losing power. If goverment wanted to do anything they just have to tell police to do their Job and they not do that.

Everyone, it's okay, the people that matter, and their families, won't be back from Davos until the air is breathable again.

In fact where is everyone else? Do the high born breathe the same air as the low born right now?

According to my API app, 68 in Bangkok this morning, 149 in Bang Rakam, Phitsanulok. I can see it blotting out the horizon.

Hope it's gone before tonight's Planetary Collusion.

I'm thinking we should gather all the waste the farmers are burning from them, then truck it to the Thaksin castle and burning it outside until the Emperor and his little princess choke to death.

The PM fronts a political party that relies on the votes of Thailand’s rural voters.

Add that to the power of a certain food conglomerate and it is clear nothing will be done.

Can you imagine this country trying to phase out diesel? it hasnt even been mentioned ...in fact it is probably churning out more disel vehicles - i would say the minister fro transport has not done enough .free bus rides on those filthy ndiesel monters is the not the way forward - start by scrapping them - or convert to electric. Everybody in the world would like silent quiet Garbage trucks- why dont they start there??? waste to energy plants can even charge the things up ..

Yeah the other thing I noticed yesterday was watch where most of the traffic gets held up on Suk.  Under the BTS stations so there is no where for it to go. Hell even the bars that hve doors are closing them to keep it out.

Went to The Mall yesterday. Traffic was worse than before free public transport, and shopping mall was full of people buying air purifiers... Even most expensive models were going out the door which I honestly haven't seen before... But the cheaper, standard models... all sold out.

Two years ago I went to buy one an all sold out.  Including Lazada.  Last year I bought one early.   Very sad.

I always stock up during rainy season when air is good. Plenty of stock and much lower prices.
