I get my local doctor to sign. Pay 200 Baht consult fee. Send by registered post about 200 Baht. Give tracking number.

  • HMRC sent you a life certificate? That's a first!    Ok, I'm teasing you, you obviously mean DWP. Next time use registered mail. Just as reliable and a quarter of the cost. Switching to an o

  • Ridiculous, the idiots in the DWP refuse to do this nonsense via e-mail or online as they claim that it isn't secure. Does that mean the Government Gateway isn't secure? If that's the case then they h

Well, in the probate case that I'm dealing with, I've had to notify them (HMRC/DWP/IP) as they've been overpaying for 10 months now. They require me to send (post ) them a form along with the death certificate so that they can check the status ! This after all the correct procedures had been followed re informing the embassy.

WOW!  That is unusual

Thanks.
Is this layout (different format from LC two years ago) the current one?

That link leads to the latest form on the DWP website BUT it's different to the one I received a few days ago. That might be because the one we get is specific to us as individuals - i.e. it has the NINo so they know a lot of detail from that.

I rang DWP, last night, as I have still not received my form, sent the 6th January.

They confirmed that this is the new form, but they are also accepting the old form for now.

I was hoping do to the Life Certificate over the phone, as I had done in the past, no joy however, they insist on it being posted.

I presume that you know that you can download the LC.

You have plenty of time but it would be good to put it to bed for another couple of years.

IMHO DWP surpass even Thai Immigration these days when it comes to excessive pedantry!

It amazes me that they think that email is not secure, yet they think the postal service is.

Has any one received one of these, got it today, eventually got it signed at Chalong Police Station.

Cost 1000bht to send this back to DWP, surely in this day and age they should have an online form, oh well done now.

Didn't know where to post this so it's here.

The DWP is a dinosaur. It still lives in the 18th century.

A side not e that I find strange but understandable. I can sign for these items and also for passport applications. So I am considered by the government to be honest to do this yet I am not honest to submit my own details with the qualifying credentials that could be easily checked. Strange world we live in.

And they are by no means alone in HMG in that regard. So are HMPO when it comes to renewing passports from Thailand.

My certificate was accepted at Wolverhampton yesterday.  That took a little over 2 weeks from posting  here.

Exactly. Seems a little backward to me

  • 2 months later...

Well, there's a first!!

After sending my Life Cert. and seeing it was delivered on 10th. April, I got an SMS from DWP today saying "We have processed your Life Certificate. You do not need to contact us".

No need for the usual check phonecall now. Good!

Has anybody else received such a message?

Is there a miniscule amount of modernisation afoot in DWP? Has their customer service upped its game a little?

Yes, I got the SMS message as well.

DWP could certainly go to online verification.

I receive a small monthly pension from the Financial Assurance Scheme (FAS) which provides financial assistance to members of defined benefit pension schemes who lost all or part of their pension following their scheme becoming insolvent.

FAS is funded by the DWP.

Every year or so I get an email requesting that I prove I'm still breathing via an app "MyPensionID", once set up (one time and easy) all I have to do is run the app, enter the personal number that comes in the email, and take a video selfie (you need to blink). A short time later I get a confirmation email saying all is good.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility for them to expand the system to state pensions.

But of course it's the UK government 😞

I also have a small pension where the pension provider's proof of life procedure involves me going to any Western Union agent, presenting the form that the pension people send me along with my passport. For my trouble, they give me the equivalent of 10GBP in baht. No trouble at all for me because my bank is a WU agent.

I got an SMS from DWP yesterday saying "We have processed your Life Certificate. You do not need to contact us"  sent last week of January 2025

This year did not wait until no pension arrived then having to phone them,  2 years ago they sent another copy via email, so this time just printed this [saved on PC] off and filled it out and sent.

in 10 years Never received the Life Certificate via Post from them, always asked on the phone to sent via email, but they never do !!
