Let them isolate themselves, who cares. USA consumer paying double the amount for tropical fruit or will they produce that themselves. Start growing rice too amongst others.
FritsSikkink Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 1 hour ago, John Drake said: It's joining BRICS. And Trump has just proclaimed any intent on the part of BRICS to weaken the US dollar a hostile action that will result in 100 percent tariffs and/or exclusion from exporting into the US. USA retirement and marriage bank requirements add 100% too, that would be a laugh.

What Trump does not seem to understand is that 100% tariffs are a two way thing. If the USA under Trump wants to impose the tariffs, he can do so, but other countries can also do the same to the USA. 1

Popular Post OneMoreFarang Posted 1 hour ago Popular Post Posted 1 hour ago I think he should take 1000% tariffs on anything from everywhere. The beauty is that Americans will have to pay that. And maybe, just maybe, some Americans will discover that life is getting a lot more expensive because of their own idiotic president. Obviously with some of his voters that will take a lot of processing time. But at some stage they should realize it. I am looking forward to that moment. 1 2 2

Callmeishmael Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The idea of a BRICS currency just sinks like a brick! I can't see China or India or Russia ever surrendering the economic autonomy that adopting a common currency would require.
KhunLA Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Nobody is going to be rocking the trading boat, with any country that it needs. Just 'What if' scenarios that never happen. 'What if' CN stops trade with USA ? Auto industry comes to a grinding halt (remember covid), and the grid would take quite a hit also. What's sold in the USA that isn't made in CN, whole or in part ? Or other countries that trade with the USA, that use raw materials, controlled by CN. You know, those rare elements, natural resources. The world is safe. One man didn't ruin it during the last administration, and he's only here for more years. 2 1
Yellowtail Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I mostly just eat at home. Most beef in Thailand is disappointing to me, but Cheesecake Factory at Central World has a very good burger and an ok New York Strip. Spaghetti Factory at Cental Pinklau was a pleasant surprise. 1
placeholder Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 1 hour ago, John Drake said: Thailand is joining BRICS, isn't it? Red Herring much? For BRICS nations to create a currency it would need to be fully liquid. Also, it couldn't be under any one nation's control. There is no realistic path for BRICS countries to achieve that goal unless China & India, and Brazil are willing to surrender control of their currencies. I dont think BRICS countries have much of a shot at achieving creating something comparable to the Euro.. 1

bkk6060 Posted 59 minutes ago Posted 59 minutes ago I think deep down Thailand is with Russia and China. They tolerate the U.S. but otherwise, could careless about them or their expats. 1

You might try thinking about whether they have other more pressing concerns which dictate their policies. 1

And frankly, I have difficulties seeing something wrong with their stance, looking at the imperialist motives of all three countries. 1 1
KhunLA Posted 50 minutes ago Posted 50 minutes ago I equate tariffs on BRICS as about as useful as sanctions were on RU. Only people that sanctions hurt, were the UK & EU. USA & CN benefited nicely though. Same with TH, them Ruskies holidayed here, using banking from CN. USA didn't even stop buying oil & gas from RU Put a hurt on Europe though, taking out that pipeline, directly or indirectly 🙄 Y'all might think about your home countries joining BRICS yourselves, and stop being USA's lapdogs. Didn't get a kiss or KY .... 1

He has enough money. Or does anybody really think he cares about Americans in general and his MAGA fanboys in particular. Screw them. Who cares? 1

It is sad, that this might actually be a possible reality. We all have known, that the Americans are in general quite undeducated, have a very limited horizon and literally no idea how they are perceived by the rest of the world -- but even I would not have thought that behind their mask of dumbness is actual evil.

Let's see how long it takes Trump to isolate the USA as much as Russia has been isolated by the actions of Putin. Europeans are discussing openly to put military on Greenland to protect against the Americans; and I am not the only one who thinks that American military presence in Germany is a relict that should be dissolved ASAP. Trump is really feeding the flames here. 1 1

But yeah, since virtually every aspect of education in the US is controlled by the left, you're probably right.
